Glosslip/BC Radio Interview: Author Anna David, Tonight at 6:00pm

media4

We are very excited to return to BlogTalkRadio for an interview with author Anna David. Glosslip’s Dawn Olsen will be co-hosting with Blogcritics publisher and BC Radio host, Eric Olsen as we discuss Anna’s second novel, Bought. We interviewed Anna last year to talk about her debut novel, Party Girl and had a great time discussing, Hollywood’s notorious drug scene, messed up starlets and the Church of Scientology.

I reviewed Anna’s latest book at Blogcritics.org, which you can read here also after the jump. Please join us this evening at 6:00pm EST as we get Anna to open up about she-mances (like bromance, but for girls, duh!), power plays between the sexes, and how some women in Hollywood use their “assets” to better themselves financially. To listen to the show, CLICK HERE.

Please check out my review for an inside look at this great new book from Anna.

Here’s a brief bio on David, but for more, check out her website at www.annadavid.com.

Anna, a professional member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), is the sex and relationship expert on G4’s Attack of the Show. She also appears every month on the Fox News cult favorite Red Eye as a cultural commentator, has been featured regularly on The Today Show, Hannity & Colmes, and Showbiz Tonight, and occasionally pops up on MTV News, VH1 and E — usually either doling out relationship advice, offering incisive cultural commentary or simply discussing the personal lives of celebrities she doesn’t know. Her Sirius radio show on the Maxim channel, “Sex Files,” was the network’s number-one specialty show.

But wait, there’s more…

Glosslip Radio Exclusive: Author and Ex-Scientologist John Duignan, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 12:00pm

Glosslip is thrilled to announce we will be interviewing author John Duignan, whose new book, The Complex: An Insider Exposes The Covert World Of The Church Of Scientology is currently embroiled in controversy stemming from Amazon.com.uk (and apparently the U.S. Amazon.com) having pulled the book due to legal pressure from the Church of Scientology.

Here’s a brief subject description from Amazon’s site, where you can no longer get the book (read about how Amazon pulled this book after a visit from top Scientologist and second in command, Tom Cruise on Nov. 5.)

For the first time ever, a former high-ranking member of the Church of Scientology is lifting the lid on life inside the world s fastest growing cult. The Complex reveals the true story behind the religion that has ensnared a who’s who list of celebrities such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta, and convinced thousands of ordinary people to join up.

Duignan describes how two years ago he staged a dramatic escape from the elite paramilitary group at the core of the Church, the Sea Organisation, and how he narrowly evaded pursuit by Scientologists from the Office of Special Affairs. He looks back on the 22 years he served in the Church s secret army and describes the hours of sleep deprivation, brain-washing and intense auditing or religious counselling he endured, as he was moulded into a soldier of Scientology. He talks about the money-making-machine at the heart of the Church, the Scientology goal to Clear the Planet and Get Ethics In , the training programmes, the Rehabilitation Project Force and the punishments meted out to anyone who transgresses, including children. We follow his journey through the Church and the painful investigation that leads to his eventual realisation that there is something very wrong at Scientology s core.

The beliefs of the Church of Scientology might sound like something from a science fiction book but The Complex reveals that the Church s growing power base is a shocking reality.

Show begins at 12:00Noon, EST, on Tuesday, November 18.

Glosslip Radio continues to deliver the finest in streaming audio on BlogTalkRadio. We have lined up a two-hour special program featuring author, TV and Radio personality, celeb gossip writer, sex and relationship expert, Anna David.

In the second hour of the program, we will be speaking with “Martin” who is not only a member of Anonymous, the internet activist group, but a lawyer with ACLU experience who will be offering advice to those protesting the Church of Scientology about how to stay safe and legal during the monthly protests conducted by the group.

Thursday’s show will begin at 8:00pm EDT. Click here to listen live, or check out the archive after the show.

Anna David, author of Party Girl will be talking to us about her real-life experiences and what it’s like to navigate the dangerous line between glitz and glam and the seedy, vice-filled world of Hollywood. Not only is Anna a fabulous writer, but she’s involved in about a billion things. Here’s her bio:

Anna David’s novel, Party Girl, was released in 2007 by HarperCollins, the same year that an essay of hers appeared in the Dutton anthology Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys. The film rights to Party Girl were purchased by Sony Television has purchased the film rights and Harper Perennial will release Anna’s second novel, Kept Waiting, in March of 2009.

Anna is also the sex and relationship expert on G4’s Attack of the Show, appears every month on the Fox News cult favorite Red Eye as a cultural commentator, has been featured regularly on The Today Show, Hannity & Colmes, and Showbiz Tonight, and occasionally pops up on MTV News, VH1 and E! — usually either doling out relationship advice, offering incisive cultural commentary or simply discussing the personal lives of celebrities she doesn’t know. Her Sirius radio show on the Maxim channel, “Sex Files,” is the network’s number-one specialty show.

A former magazine writer, Anna is now the dating columnist for the Women’s Entertainment Network’s website, wetv.com, as well as the Editor-in-Chief of musician will.i.am’s political blog, Dipdive. Anna has written for People, UsWeekly, Razor, The New York Times, The LA Times, Vanity Fair, Cosmo, Redbook, Self, Stuff, TV Guide, Movieline, Women’s Health, Ocean Drive, Vegas, The Saturday Telegraph, Esquire UK, Teen Vogue, Variety, LA Confidential, Tatler (Hong Kong), Emmy and Maxim, among others. One of her first-person sex stories for Playboy was made into the reality show pilot Better Luck Next Town for TBS. She’s been written about by Page Six, Vegas Magazine and The Marin Independent Journal and quoted in magazines like Life and Style and Glamour.

Or in other words, she’s the BOMB! I just finished Party Girl and it ROCKED. A review is forthcoming. Anna also promised to share a great Scientology story with us. In her book, Party Girl, a fictionalized account of celeb journalist, Amelia, whose promising career is sidetracked by a nasty party “habit”, Anna takes a couple potshots at Scientology. Sex, drugs ,celebs and Scientology? This could be an epic show!

Glosslip Interviews Singer Serena Ryder, Actor Nate Hartley, Director Mitch Rouse Today, 2:00pm EDT

For those regulars here at Glosslip, we do a daily radio show on BlogTalkRadio’s BTR Today hosted by Shaun Daily. Well today, while Shaun is busy meeting Democratic Presidential Nominee BARACK OBAMA (yeah, that’s right our potential future PREZ) Eric Olsen founder and publisher of Blogcritics.org and Dawn Olsen of Glosslip will be taking over Shaun’s show and do we have an amazing line-up of guests.

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO SHOW!

First up, young actor Nate Hartley of the hilarious Owen Wilson film Drillbit Taylor. Nate, who was brilliant as the awkward and skinny teen Wade, starred along side Wilson, and fellow teen actor Troy Gentile and Josh Peck (”Drake and Josh,” Nickelodeon) in a comedy reminiscent of the 80’s classic “My Bodyguard.” The film centers around three nerdy boys entering their first year of high school where they are immediately singled out by the school bully Filkins (Alex Frost, who is more than a little creepy in this role) and Ronnie, his side-kick played by the great Josh Peck (we love “Drake and Josh” in our house) and are viciously harassed. The boys, joined by an even geekier kid, Emmet (David Dorfman) decide to hire a bodyguard. Due to financial constraints, they end up hiring “Drillbit Taylor” played by Owen Wilson, an AWOL Army guy who also happens to be homeless. Hilarity ensues.

The film’s release was unfortunately around the time of Owen’s suicide drama and didn’t get nearly the recognition it deserved. We watched it last night and it really is very funny, and Nate, who is definitely the co-star of the film is a up and coming talent, as Hollywood seems to be doing more of these teen-oriented films. Nate’s official website here, and his YouTube page with his video projects. Check it out.

Our second guest, straight off her fabulous performance at Bonnaroo, is Serena Ryder the Canadian songstress whose folk meet rock sound is both timeless and catchy. We will be featuring a couple of Serena’s songs off her latest album, Told You In A Whispered Song. Serena reminds me of a cross between Amy Winehouse and Joni Mitchell. She has the throaty warble of Winehouse (minus the emphysema wheeze) and the story-telling skills of Mitchell. Better keep your eye on Ms. Ryder, she’s destined for great things. Serena’s MySpace page.

And finally, our third guest is actor, director and screenwriter Mitch Rouse, creator of Strangers With Candy and of the dark comedy film “Employee Of The Month” starring Matt Dillon and has appeared on the awesome Reno 911!. Mitch’s new project, Factory premiering on Spike TV on June 29th at 10:00pm, is a comedy about four small-town guys, who drink beer and dream big. Below is a trailer for the show.

Glosslip Radio Exclusive: Corey Feldman, Tonight, Wednesday June 18, 8:00pm EDT

Glosslip Radio is excited to announce a special segment of our BlogTalkRadio show tonight at 8:00pm EDT. Dawn Olsen will be co-hosting with Blogcritics.org publisher Eric Olsen when we speak with actor Corey Feldman.

Glosslip has done some 80’s related posts, as I am a HUGE fan all things 80’s, that goes for films from that era, and let’s face it, Corey Feldman has added his comedic flare to the some of the greatest films of that era including, Goonies, Stand By Me, and iconic Lost Boys, which teamed he and the other Corey from the 80’s Corey Haim up for the first time.

Now that dynamic duo have come together again for a new season of the A&E show, “The Two Coreys”, which chronicles the single and out-of-work Corey Haim moving in with his now married and with child best friend, Corey Feldman. While the show is a fictionalized version of their real lives, as with all things, some reality spills over into the show. The second season premiere airs this Sunday, June 22 at 10:00pm EDT on A&E. Click here for details.

Corey will be discussing his new life with wife Susie (whom he met while he was filming the VH1’s The Surreal Life in 2002 and were married on the show’s season finale by MC Hammer, and ordained minister. Huh?) and their son Zen. Corey and his wife are vegans and spokespeople for PETA. They are actively involved with environmental and animal rights causes!

Totally gnarly!!

Amy Winehouse Impresses Moscow Crowd, Presents A Naked Vagina

What a great day, I get to mention Amy, crack AND vagina in the same sentence. Actually, if you think about it, can you even mention Amy WITHOUT mentioning crack? Not lately.

Last week, stories emerged stating Amy Winehouse was offered $2 million dollars to perform at a private concert for Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. Why? Because when you have billions of dollars, sometimes it’s fun to gamble with it, and these days, expecting perpetual crackhead Amy Winehouse to show up on time and perform anything other than a circus act with three rings, is some serious odds NOT in your favor.

Rush and Malloy have the scoopage:

Winehouse took the bait [$2 mill]. She can use the cash, according to British reports, which claim she’s been paying veteran inmates at a British jail to look after her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, while he awaits his assault trial.)

Tattooed Amy managed to get on a plane in London. But, a source tells us, when she arrived in Moscow “she was in no condition to appear.”

Word is party organizers talked about finding a replacement to sing, but felt there wasn’t enough time.

Winehouse was due to take the stage at 10:30 p.m. at The Garage, the gallery of Abramovich’s 25-year-old love interest, Dasha Zhukova. The singer’s handlers “spent two hours trying to pull her together,” says the insider.

Around 12:30 a.m., Winehouse finally appeared, wobbling onto the stage down a red carpet lined with red lights, which guided her like a damaged aircraft down a runway.

Between restorative sips of Coke, Winehouse puffed on cigarettes, flung her lighter into the audience and tugged on her little dress, revealing to stageside fans that she wasn’t wearing underwear.

“I heard that her singing was a little sloppy,” says the source, who caught up with the gallery crowd later at The Most, the hot Moscow club where the after-party was held. “But she still put on a terrific show.”

If someone wanted to pay me $2 million to show up, caterwaul for a hour or so and flash my vagina, count me in. Except the vagina part, the caterwauling though, that’s a given. I can’t imagine, given Amy’s recent history of poor performances, Mr. Abramovich was expecting a genuine performance from Winehouse.

Also, just a side note, did she really have to go commando? If her weave and face look that messy and untidy, can you imagine what the parts we DON’T see look like?

*shudders*
