What’s that?  This isn’t news, you say?  Well, it kinda is, since it wasn’t Salma’s baby.  The actress, in war-torn Sierra Leone with a camera crew to showcase the fight against tetanus, nursed the little baby when his mother ran out of milk:

The 42-year-old, who has a one-year-old daughter Valentina, was touring a hospital when she came across a mother who was unable to feed her baby boy.

Although TV cameras were there from ABC’s Nightline news programme, the actress did not hesitate.

Hayek said: ‘The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother did not have any milk. He was very hungry – I was weaning my daughter Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk, so I breast-fed the baby.’

She added: ‘It was amazing because he’s really looking at me and he’s very little. My baby is one year so she can suck a lot harder.’

Hayek later admitted she worried about betraying her daughter, but she added: ‘I thought about it, am I being disloyal to my child by giving my milk away?

‘I actually think my baby would be very proud to be able to share her milk and when she grows up I will make sure she continues to share and be generous caring person.’

She went on to recall how her great-grandmother had helped out a woman in a similar fashion.

She explained: ‘My great-grandmother was in a Mexican village and they found a woman in the street inconsolably crying and the baby was also crying, crying, crying.

‘My great-grandmother went up to her and said “What is the matter?” and the mother said, “She is very, very hungry and I have no more milk”.

‘And in the street my great-grandmother took the baby and breastfed that baby who instantly stopped crying and went peacefully to sleep.

‘It was amazing (to breastfeed another child) because I was really impressed by (my great-grandmother’s) story. I’m here in Sierra Leone and I was able to feed a baby that was very hungry.’

In a world where we are constantly reading and reporting on the selfishness and self-centered actions of celebrities, including those who visit war-torn countries, it is like cool rain on a hot day to read about something like this.  And it’s awesome not only because she performed a charitable act of mercy, but because this footage is being shown on national television.  I haven’t given one of these out for a while, but she gets a Breath Of Fresh Air Award.

Actually, I have no idea if Scarlett has a nice personality, but she does have beautiful… um.. er….how do I say this? Hair! Yes that’s it, she has beautiful hair and an excellent sense of direction, and an amazing set of…..china.

Yep. That’s all I have to say. Oh, and she married that Ryan Reynolds cat because attractive people don’t usually marry ugly people, usually.

You know that guy to the left is TOTALLY looking at her….wedding ring. Look how big and voluminous that diamond is.

“In love witchu”?  Don’t try so hard, you’ll hurt yourself.

Mariah Carey’s new video has come out, and it looks and sounds like pretty much every other Mariah Carey song that has come out.  It starts off soft and ends up with Mariah screaming and showing off her vocal range while dancing around and touching her heaving bosoms.  Yeah, we get it, you can hit the high notes…and by the way, thanks for ruining millions of talent shows all across the world as entirely too many pimple-faced wannabees who stopped vocal lessons after the “project your voice” class try to be you.

Plus, this video is nothing more than an almost four-minute commercial for Mariah’s perfume.  The logo is on the wall behind her as she dances as well as on her boot (which you see in the first few seconds), and just in case we missed the total subtlety of it all, she is seen applying the scent to her cleavage in the first fifteen seconds.  Because “subtle” is Mariah’s middle name.

And just in case all that wasn’t enough, not only is Mariah trying too hard to be Mimi From The Block, but her song features such soul-stirring lyrics as these:

It cuts so deep
It hurts down to my soul
My friends tell me
I ain’t the same no mo’…

Oh, wait…that’s totally different.  I can see now what the fuss is about.  I’m framing those lyrics and hanging them on my wall.  I need such inspirational thoughts to help get me through my day.  Because, after all, I have to suffer through life without a Hello Kitty bathroom.  The agony!

Even better than Angelina Jolie choosing to do the healthiest thing for her children, she’s allowed herself to be photographed breastfeeding, and according to Life and Style Weekly, the world will be given the privilege of feasting their eyes with her lovely visage in the November issue of W Magazine.

It’s true! Sources who’ve seen the photos confirm exclusively to Life & Style that Angelina Jolie really did pose for the cover story of W magazine while breast-feeding!

“Angelina posed for Brad [Pitt] in one of the photos while breast-feeding,” the source reveals to Life & Style. “It’s really beautiful and tastefully done.”

“The photos are amazing,” adds a second source.

Brad shot the photos in mid-August at Chateau Miraval, the family’s home in the South of France. They’re scheduled to appear in W’s November issue, hitting newsstands on Oct. 21.

I applaud Angie and Brad for doing this and bringing a glamorous face to breastfeeding. Until the last century when the Nestle company successfully made a bid to globalize baby formula (which can be a dangerous practice in third-world countries where clean water is scarce) breastfeeding was the norm for virtually all children. The nutritional benefits of breastfeeding are well documented and research has shown children who are breastfed are statistically healthier and less prone to suffering from a variety of common childhood illnesses. The FDA, American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization endorse and encourage breastfeeding, and now, so do Brad and Angie.

I breastfed both of my children until the age of three and I am a well-known nipple crusader so this story warms my cold Brangelina-dissing heart. I look forward to seeing the photos and hope this public display will encourage more new moms to do the same. Especially in China, where the formula can be deadly to babies.

Someone mentioned the above display of “talent” today and was deeply impressed with this woman’s skillz. The fact that this person was 16 and a goofy boy should have been my first clue. But, in any case, here you go.

I feel compelled to state, not only is this a stupid use of one’s breasts, but also dangerous.

Do not get me wrong.  I think it’s great that Britney is doing something with her life besides wasting her life chasing Frapps and driving around aimlessly buying lipsticks at Rite-Aid at 3AM.  She taught a class of 4-7 year-olds at Millennium Dance Studio, doing simple routines to songs like Madonna’s True Blue and Material Girl (I always liked that song) and spent time preparing for an upcoming music video and supposed world tour:

In addition to choreographed routines to vintage Madonna songs “True Blue” and “Material Girl” and “Holiday,” Spears – wearing ripped fishnets, red boy-shorts and a blue top – also allowed her pupils to free-style dance.

“She even played age-appropriate games in a circle, pretending to be a choo-choo train,” [director of Millennium Dance Studio Robert] Baker said. “Britney was just amazing with the kids and everyone ended up having a blast. At the end of the hour class, all the kids hugged Britney and she seemed very happy.” [...]

The kids, aged 4 to 7, were selected from the studio’s junior program. “The parents gave their permission,” Baker said. “They were thrilled. One parent summed it up: ‘It’s a once in a lifetime event.’”

Well, maybe not. Spears had so much fun, “She asked to please teach a class tomorrow,” said Baker, a longtime Spears friend. “We plan to put together a group of about 20 kids for her.”

After the class wrapped up at 7 p.m., Spears – who has rehearsed at Millennium three times since Friday – spent another hour and a half working on a dance routine for her single “Hot as Ice.”

“She seems very focused about getting back into her old life,” said Baker. “[She's] focusing her energy on creating and dancing.”

Okay, I like that she’s doing something creative and positive.  But seriously.  Take away the fact that this is Britney Spears for a moment.  If I were the parent of a young child, preschooler or elementary school child, and I saw this coming to teach my kid, I’d grab them and run the other way as fast as I could.  Can’t somebody take her to the side and explain that this probably isn’t the most appropriate thing she could be wearing in this situation?  I mean, I get that dancers wear certain things to rehearse in, for ease of movement and comfort.  But couldn’t she at least put on a bra?  You’ve had two kids, honey, get those ponies in a corral.

And what happened to the new, sexy hairstyle she supposedly got?  If I were the stylist that put in that weave, I’d be distancing myself from that disaster as fast as possible.  Yeah, she’s been dancing, but it doesn’t look any better when she’s not dancing.

But should she even be doing this?  According to “an insider” (and every family has one), Britney isn’t exactly mentally stable just yet:

Mom Lynne Spears has told former son-in-law Kevin Federline that Britney acts like a small child, cannot comprehend any of what’s going on and talks about sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, like they are toys.

“She is like a little girl with dolls,” says a family insider, “and does not understand why she can’t have them back.”

According to the insider, Kevin is adamant that Britney not see their kids right now, and the law is on his side. “He will not allow the boys to be hurt by her anymore,” the source continues. “Kevin does not want her to see them until she agrees to get more help.”

Wait…did I mention world tour up there?   Yes, I believe I did:

It looks like Britney Spears’ family will do anything to get her away from her “friends” Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib — including putting the pill-popping poptard on tour. The buzz at the Grammys was that Spears’ newfound focus on her dancing is preparation for a world tour. Britney “will be leaving the country in the next few weeks,” a source confided to Page Six. “She’ll train in privacy for a month, then go on a global tour.”

Now there’s an idea right up there on par with her family calling Dr. Phil to go to Cedars-Sinai and talk to her.  I have my doubts about that one, though…even Brit’s family must realize that she isn’t stable enough to go jetting around the globe.  Hopefully they’ve got her busy “rehearsing” just to keep her doing something besides ruining her life and endangering herself.

Apparently the kids loved it:

From his multiple accounts (to Us and People), everything went swimmingly. “She worked out this great little routine for them, they were dancing all over the place, she had them dancing in a circle like a choo-choo train,” he said. “The kids loved it—they are having a ball right now. And Britney—she’s just drinking it up.” 

That all sounds great!

Well, it did until we heard one little girl told her mother, “We had so much fun. Britney was wearing little red shorts and she looked so pretty.” Based on Baker’s description, she was wearing the very outfit [shown]. Definitely something children should not be subjected to…let alone aspire to.

Would you sign up your kid to be taught by Brit, at this point in her life?  Maybe in a year or so when she’s more stabilized (hopefully).  But frankly, while I don’t believe she’s going to snap and kill someone, I wouldn’t knowingly let someone in this mental state teach kids.  She needs to get herself well first before she’s responsible for anyone else.  After all, there’s a reason why the court won’t let her have visitation with her own kids.

Just goes to show that in Hollywood, it’s all about who you are and who you know.  Parents will sign their kids up for anything to further their careers.  I’d think if there was ever a poster child for pulling your kids out of dance class and buying them some books or a chemistry set or a set of wrenches or even a toy McDonald’s cash register, it’s Britney Spears.  Would you like some fries with that shake?

I just came from a certain website, and from the capslock-filled titles you’d think WWIII had just been declared, or cancer had been cured, or Hollywood stars grew brains.  No, it’s just Britney Spears in the news again, this time driving half-dressed with a flat tire down Sunset.

It seems that she got a flat tire while out driving around with her assistant yesterday (didn’t she just get this car?  I assume they come with new tires?  I had tires put on my Jeep two years ago and have yet to flatspot a tire) and limped down the road at a whopping 5 MPH (what, she doesn’t have AAA?) before finally abandoning her car by the side of the road.  Apparently this little circus act caused quite the traffic gridlock, which finally ended with Brit’s car being towed by the police.  Why didn’t they arrest her for holding her son hostage the other night while they were at it?

After being taken home by a photographer (yes, and you can read about it here), she emerged in a different vehicle and went to her favorite haunt, the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.  She apparently gave her keys to the photog so he could go get her car, but all to no avail, since the police had towed it.  She stayed for just a few minutes at the Four Seasons (wasn’t she just banned from there?) before heading off to the Peninsula, where she finally got a room.  A huge mansion and she has to spend her time at motels?

And why this girl feels like she has to spend her time in a motel is beyond me, but it could be just another byproduct of the bipolar disorder.  Plus, there have been rumors that certain illegal activities go on at the motels she likes to frequent, but they’re so far just rumors.  New pap boytoy Addon Somethingornuther was nowhere in sight…reckon he got his ’scoop’ and fled the scene?

No real reason for this post other than I’m just wondering how many times this train wreck has to wreck.

Personally, I hope it’s true.  She looked too much like Strumpet Spice Barbie with those half-cantaloupes.  They hang correctly, they look nice.  At least now she looks relatively normal…well, as normal as she can look.
