John Mayer Not One For “Wasting Anyone’s Time,” But Has No Problem Wasting Space And Air

Jennifer dumped John. John dumped Jennifer. Who the hell cares and how does this qualify as news on CNN?

I blame Jennifer Aniston for dating a piece of human garbage like douchey-crooner John Mayer. Clearly Jennifer has the world’s WORST taste in men. Her habit of dating incredibly immature guys, who have a long and checkered history of being afraid of commitment is probably not in her best interest, but none of this excuses John Mayer from running his yap to the paps about who broke up with whom.

Jennifer, as the CNN video reports, is a pretty private person and tends to keep mum on her personal life to the paps. And who can blame her? With Aniston’s heartaches played out in the press for years, and years, AND YEARS (Brangeloonies anyone?), why would she give the media more fuel for their humiliation pyre?

But alas, there’s no accounting for class. Or decorum, or taste, or dignity, apparently.

I hope Jennifer learns a valuable lesson from this. Anyone willing to date Jessica Simpson is probably someone Aniston should cross off her list of potential suitors.

As for you John Mayer, can you do us all a favor? Shut your flapping meathole before it ends up looking like your destined-to-be-diseased weenis. Ask yourself John, in what way are you improving the world? If you are “waiting for the world to change,” how about your start with yourself you attention-obsessed mouth-breather.

Is The New Batman Film Cursed? Three Dark Events May Overshadow Box Office Records

I was in the car when word of Morgan Freeman’s accident was announced on CNN. I literally held my breath as the reporter relayed the accident details, until she stated Freeman was in serious, but stable condition. Glosslip’s own “k” has some more information about the Oscar winner’s dangerous accident in Mississippi.

After the initial shock wore off, and I consoled myself that at least Morgan wasn’t killed (I am a huge Morgan Freeman fan, so this really was upsetting news) it occurred to me this was the third major dark event to hit the stars of the film.

As we all know, the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight, which has made close to $400M in the three weeks since it opened, features an amazing performance by the late Heath Ledger who died this past January from an accidental prescription drug overdose. Ledger, haunted by his work in the film, had suffered from chronic insomnia and seemed to be medicating his way through a dark period sparked by his role as the homicidal Joker character. Ledger admitted in interviews that he had tapped into some very disturbing elements of his psyche to play such an intense role. The wake of his death left many unanswered questions and a grieving family to ponder what might have been for the talented star.

While many have been drawn to the film to watch what was Ledger’s final completed project, another brooding character from the film, British actor Christian Bale resurrected his tortured role as Batman in this new film, only to have a decades old unresolved family feud boil over into his on-screen life. Bale, an intensely private star has made it clear to the press his private life is off-limits, this however, did not stop his estranged mother and sister from making a private altercation public when they filed assault charges. Anyone would question the timing of the events, which occurred on the eve of London premiere of the much anticipated film.

While details are sketchy, we do know the charge was serious enough to have resulted in Bale having to report to the London police to give a statement about the “assault” immediately following the premiere. Bale’s mother, Jenny and older sister Sharon, allege Bale verbally and physically assaulted them, but according to most reports, the incident stemmed from Christian’s mother and sister asking the star for $200K for his sister to use in “helping her raise her children”. Things were said to have escalated when Bale’s wife Sibi was insulted by his mother and sister, including a possible shove/push of some sort.

Considering what we do know about his family history, with his parents being divorced in 1987, and Christian going to live with his father who became his manager, reports suggest Christian and his mother grew apart during that time.

Since this is a private family matter, that his sister and mother made public, and an apparent shakedown was at the center, I will give Christian the benefit of the doubt, with again, the timing being the key to all of this. It seems that as headlines of the film shattering box office records were being splashed all over the media, Bale’s sister and mother saw a golden opportunity as it were. Very sad.

And now we have news of a very serious car accident involving another star from the hugely successful film, Morgan Freeman, who starred with Christian Bale in the previous Batman film, Batman Begins.

Freeman, who reprises his role as inventor Lucius Fox is the latest star to suffer from what is becoming the Dark Knight curse. While none of these stars prior to the recent events have ever had a hint of controversy in their lives, which is notably strange in the entertainment world, it makes you wonder what forces are at work in these sad events. From my experiences, the universe is in a constant struggle to maintain a balance, or equilibrium if you will. If you follow the yin and yang theory, the wildly successful film, could in turn spawn a negative reaction to counter balance the outrageous money the Dark Knight has made in such a short period of time.

Perhaps Warner Brothers, who’ve been widely accused of trying to profit off of the tragedy of Heath Ledger’s untimely passing are to blame for this? Or perhaps, it’s just an odd, but unfortunate series of events.

Hey, what do I know? I write a celeb gossip site.

Do NOT Mess With Spider-Man, Er, Tobey Maguire

The above video made my DAY. I love Tobey Maguire, he’s so angry and brooding.

Seriously, I saw a brief shot of him at a Lakers game during the playoffs and MAN, did he looked PISSED that the cameras were focused on him. I find it both amusing and kind of sad that some celebrities can’t accept the price they must pay for fame. I am not blaming Tobey for being pissed, seriously, but the dude needs to lighten the eff up. Life’s too short to get so worked up over such silliness.

So here’s a little something for you Tobey, from my favorite film Stripes.

Billy Ray Cyrus Likes To Name Drop, Look Cool, Make Excuses

The whole Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana thing is as dumb as her daddy’s accent, but to make matters worse, now Billy Ray goes on the “Today” show and makes a bunch of lame excuses for why he was unaware his daughter, all 15 years of her, agreed to some soft-core porn style pictures, despite her squeaky clean Disney spoon-fed image.

Can you imagine how refreshing it would be for a famous person to just get up there and say, “Hey, I am an entertainer. I am not bright or very smart. In fact, I do stupid things sometimes. I suck. Please forgive me” ?

Not only that, the pictures were yucky. Miley hasn’t even grown into that mug of hers. Sheesh, can’t we let kids grow up first before we start whoring them out.

Hollywood is yucky.

Tatum O’Neal Arrest Proves Overcoming Addiction Is Never Easy

Tatum O’Neal, an Oscar-winning actress and daughter of famous actor Ryan O’Neal was arrested on Sunday after police caught her buying cocaine on a NY city street corner. O’Neal in her adult life, has become as famous for her substance abuse problems as she has for her stellar acting skills, and sadly, this past weekend’s arrest shows the difficulty of overcoming addiction.

Back in the 90’s after her divorce to tennis star John McEnroe, Tatum’s drug problems became a public issue when McEnroe filed for custody of their three children when he discovered she was addicted to heroin and NOT taking appropriate care of their children. Tatum worked hard to recover from her addiction, and went on to write a book about her life, chronicling her abusive relationship with her father, being sexually abused by a family friend and growing up in the limelight.

Addiction seems to be a family curse, as Tatum’s mother Joanna Moore also battled drug and alcohol abuse and her half-brother Redmond (mother Farrah Fawcett) has made news for having debilitating substance abuse problem (check Glosslip’s coverage of that story here.)

Tatum in recent years has had an upsurge in her acting career, with a regular spot on the Dennis Leary show Rescue Me, and then appearing on the popular ABC’s reality show, Dancing With The Stars. Tatum could have easily had a lucrative and successful film career after her teen years (she won an Oscar for her role in Paper Moon, opposite her father, and was tremendous in Little Darlings) but instead took time off during her marriage to McEnroe, and then sadly, got back into drugs.

This recent arrest, which she claims “saved her life” came on the heels of a difficult time for her having lost her beloved pet. Here Tatum explains:

“There is no excuse for what I did, I lost my Scottish terrier Lena … that sort of set me off.”

Under normal circumstances, I would go into one of our usual tirades, condemning Tatum for a selfish and destructive act (she has children to think about) but knowing her family history and that she’s a recovering addict of many years does make her situation more sympathetic. She also gets credit for eventually coming to terms and admitting she had “no excuse,” but not before pulling out her ‘celeb get out of jail free card’ asking arresting officers “Do you know who I am” and then tried the whole “I was researching a role” excuse. Fortunately, the popo weren’t buying it.

Nowadays, it doesn’t matter WHO you are, in fact, it’s often a disadvantage to be a celeb and get caught doing something stupid. My advice, avoid doing stupid things. Tatum, you can afford counseling, please get help before you really hurt yourself.

The Hill’s Audrina Patridge Spends Small Fortune For Her Birthday

I swore I would not write about these knuckleheads reality stars on our hallowed blog, but hey, even I can be shallow from time to time :)

So when I saw this PR release in my inbox, I checked it out and the sticker shock on what Audrina spent on her OWN birthday made me almost drop a deuce in my 100% cotton, reasonably priced drawers. While $4000 may not be much in Audrina’s world, for me $4000 is a large investment. I can say in an entire YEAR, I might have spent about half that amount on clothes for the WHOLE family. Granted, I am a bargain shopper and wait for sales at the Gap, Macy’s, and I sometimes shop at Marshall’s and TJMaxx when I can, but for the most part, I wouldn’t dream for a second about spending more than $15 on a t-shirt.

I don’t know how much these girls make being on their fake-reality show, “The Hills,” but DAMN, I want that job. The ladies of “The Hills” were featured on Rolling Stones most recent cover. WHY? I can think of about 15000 other individuals more compelling than these ladies, but hey, it’s what the young people want.

Here’s the PR release, we get these pretty often, I ignore them frequently because it’s not relevant in my view of Celeb culture, but hey, seeing what people spend is kind of interesting:

Rob Lowe Another Victim Of Public’s Fascination With Celebs

Rob Lowe posted an impassioned article on Huffington’s Post recently about a very difficult situation in his personal life. According to his portrayal, his family is under attack by a former employee, Laura Boyce, who after many years of working closely with the family, suddenly disappeared last November without a clue as to where she went or why. The Lowe’s for their part became concerned enough for this woman’s whereabouts they filed a missing person’s report, only then did she come forward, and the nature of her disappearance revealed: she wanted money or she was telling on them.

Sounds mysterious and salacious, huh? No doubt Lowe’s own sordid past from his youth may be coming back to haunt him, or in this case, used against him. Before we even get into the specifics, I will give you my take initially.

Anyone in the public eye who is forthcoming with these kinds of issues strikes me as someone who has the facts on their side, I doubt Lowe, who has weathered his own personal storms, would be so bold as to make proclamations about his families innocence against claims of abuse, if he weren’t sure they could stand up under scrutiny. I could be wrong, but human nature is some instances, is VERY predictable.

The Lovely Marisol Nichols, Rids Herself Of Pesky Aliens Through Scientology

marisol-nichols-ias-ad-source-192.JPG
One of the worst things about the WGA strike this past fall/winter was missing some of my favorite shows. We don’t watch a lot of TV in our house, but the shows we do watch, we watch religiously. Our favorite by far is Fox’s 24.

24 is centered around CTU agent Jack Bauer
, played by the ruggedly handsome and sometimes reckless drinker, Kiefer Sutherland. The show missed its taping schedule due to the writer’s strike. This means we will have to wait until the fall to catch this year’s 24 episodes, as we follow Jack Bauer and the rest of the Counter-Terrorism Unit, track down terrorists who seek to destroy the United States and ultimately, the fabric of civilization.

So, being a big fan of this show, it also shocked me to find Marisol Nichols, who played CTU Associate-Special-Agent-in-Charge Nadia Yassir, is also a Scientologist, and has been for many years. Marisol had been in a few films and had some minor TV appearances prior to landing her role on 24, and not surprisingly like many actors who belong to Scientology, she credits the “tech” of L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology for helping her with her career.

In an issue of Source, the Scientology magazine, Marisol talks about her solo NOT’s auditing sessions and her training at Flag Land Base in Clearwater, Florida:

Sam Lufti Delusional, Seeks Britney To Take The Stand In His Defense

britney_lufti.jpg

K’s out for the day, so you people are stuck with me, sorry. I will muddle my way through this, so bare with me.

We reported a week or so ago that Britney’s ex-manager Sam Lufti was finally served with the restraining order Britney’s parents filed on him. Britney’s mother Lynne Spears, gave a sworn statement she witnessed Sam abuse Britney and admit to giving her drugs which he crushed up and put in her drink to consume. The statement was quite damaging and portrayed Sam as the monster we had all figured him to be.

This however, has not stopped Lufti from his relentless efforts to thwart Britney’s father, Jamie who is co-conservator for her as she undergoes medical treatment, from getting her life back on track. According to OK! Magazine, Sam wants to go to court and call Britney to the stand in defense of his character. From the article:

“I am going to call Britney to the stand so she can tell the world how I was helping her,” Sam reportedly said. “I am innocent. I am Britney’s friend and would never hurt her.”

That’s hard to believe based on Lynne Spears’ testimony for the restraining order, in which she revealed Sam had been secretly drugging Brit and controlling every aspect of her life. But in Sam’s mind, that doesn’t warrant a restraining order, and he’s prepared to “fight all the way” to regain access to Britney, his spokesman Michael Sands says.

“Sam is a good guy who does not agree with this restraining order,” he says.

The 33-year-old is ready to duke it out in court in a March 17 hearing, where he’ll claim Britney had access to drugs from other visitors in her home and fears her life is being taken over by her dad and co-conservator of her assets, Jamie Spears.

And as for Brit? It sounds like she’s tired of being told what to do too.

“She is fighting to get control,” a source says.

Ok, a couple things here. First off, Sam is NOT a good guy. Sam is pathological liar who has a handful of restraining orders out on him from parties NOT related to Britney Spears. Sam has threatened to make peoples lives miserable and stated he wished for people to be raped and killed so he could piss on their graves.

Sam is a sociopath with delusions of grandeur who is just one mental misfiring away from hurting someone. Seriously, Sam Lufti is evil AND worse yet, STUPID. But I will spare you the lengthy tirade on that one.

Secondly, Britney probably IS sick of being told what to do. But you know what? Too bad. Britney is a young woman who is in desperate need of stability and structure in her life. Notice how the news on her has died down since her dad and the lawyer took over her life? That deafening sound of “Britney news silence” is what I like to call: a return to NORMALCY.

Just because you are famous doesn’t mean you need to be in the news all the time. Give some other attention-whores a shot. Surely in all of LaLa Land there’s someone who’s just waiting to get pulled over for drunk driving, show their vajayjay, or leak a sex tape. Britney, in time, you will see being out of the spotlight is a good thing.

Patience, it is a virtue.

More Oscar Snobbery, Brad Renfro Ignored In Memoriam

bradrenfro.jpg

This is exactly what I was alluding to in my earlier post about the inherent snobbery which goes into the selection process of the Academy Awards. Character actors are often ignored for their great performances for what can only be what Academy voters deem as a lack of versatility, or even popularity by the masses. If the people voted for whom they deemed to have given the best performance, I am sure the outcome would be different more often than not.

Actor Brad Renfro
appeared in 21 films before his tragic death on January 15, from a heroin overdose. Brad was 25 at the time of his death, and his recent life had been marred by substance abuse problems, including an arrest in 2005 for attempting to purchase heroin. This however, does not diminish his talent or his previous work, which garnered him critical acclaim at the time. His first role was in the blockbuster The Client, a film adaptation of a book by John Grisham. (I love his books btw)

He also starred alongside the likes of Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman, Robert de Niro and Kevin Bacon in Sleepers, and with Scarlett Johannson in the indie classic Ghost World. In 1995, he won Hollywood Reporter’s “Young Star” award, and was voted nominated in the People’s “Best 30 Under 30.”

My point is, while Brad had derailed his career at the end, he was hardly a nobody and was certainly someone people in the industry respected for having talent and potential. They didn’t ignore Heath Ledger who died because of an accidental overdose, but of course, he’d been nominated for an award.

The Academy has released a statement to Us Magazine, stating:

“It was really an editing decision because we can’t fit everyone in,” a rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tells Usmagazine.com. “There was no specific reason.”

That’s some BS right there. Heath Died AFTER Brad, and how hard would it have been to stick Brad’s picture in there? Seriously, this industry takes these young people, throws them into a world of excess, practically plies them with drugs, sucks them of their soul and then discards them like yesterday’s trash.

Tell me Academy, how about you edit this, you buttlicks!
