Nikki Blonsky: You Can’t Stop The Beatdown

Maybe next time she should let co-star John Travolta fly her where she needs to go.  E-meters for everyone!

Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky and her father were arrested after getting into a fight with the family of Bianca Golden:

The 19-year-old actress, who played dancing teen Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 film musical, was taken into custody after becoming embroiled in an argument in the departure lounge of the Providenciales International Airport in the Turks And Caicos islands.

Blonsky and her father Carl were arrested on Wednesday after allegedly arguing with the family of America’s Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden.

Blonsky was released on £3,000 bail after being charged with actual bodily harm, while her father remains in police custody after he was charged with grievous bodily harm, which means the victim needed medical treatment from their injuries.

Sgt. Calvin Chase from the Providenciales Police Department said: ‘Things got out of hand in an argument over seats in the departure lounge, and several people were involved in an altercation.

‘There were some injuries involved.’

Golden’s mother was so badly hurt in the altercation, she has been airlifted to hospital in Florida.

Golden was also charged with actual bodily harm and released on £3,000 bail.

Blonsky appeared in court on the island wearing a neck brace on Friday morning, before returning home to the U.S.

Nikki’s mom, on a video posted on TMZ, claims that her daughter was sitting there doing nothing when she was punched:

Nikki Blonsky’s mom pops up midway through the video — shot at the Providenciales airport — to say that Nikki was “just sitting there” when she was “punched in the head.”

You can also hear another witness say “Tracy Turnblad” won’t be “dancing around today” after the lady in the green shirt initiated the fight that sent Bianca’s mom to the hospital and Nikki, Bianca, and Nikki’s dad to jail.

I’m sure this isn’t the end of this, and I’m also sure this isn’t the whole story, but come on, people…isn’t there a better way of settling things besides throwing punches?  There’s no need to act like a bunch of idiots, especially since practically everywhere you go there’s somebody with a camera.

Gym Class Heroes’ Frontman Defends Himself With Microphone

Travis McCoy, singer/frontman for the hip-hop/punk group Gym Class Heroes was arrested in St. Louis on Tuesday evening following their Warp tour set because of an altercation during their first song. According to Rolling Stone, McCoy reacted instinctively to a racial slur hurled by a front row fan who then hit the singer’s injured knee (he was wearing a brace). Here’s more from their story.

The punk-hop group had just finished the first song of their Warped Tour set, “Peace Sign,” when a black audience member near the front row called the New York-based singer a “fucking ignorant n****r.”

McCoy calmly asked the man, “What did you just call me?” As security was removing him from the crowd, the frontman reached down and broke his microphone over the man’s head. McCoy immediately apologized for his reaction and said it wasn’t representative of him as a person. “I’m sorry. But when someone calls you something that ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone,” said McCoy. The audience cheered as the man in question was carried away by security. Local police are not releasing the victim’s name at this time.

McCoy was arrested onstage at the end of his set. He was released early this morning on $500 bond, and this afternoon the band’s manager, Bob McLynn, issued a statement that reads, “Somebody in the crowd was taunting Travis with racial slurs. Travis invited him onstage with the intent of calling him out in front of the crowd, with absolutely no intention of a physical altercation. When he tried to help him onstage, the guy hit Travis in the knee area (which has been in a brace because of a recent sprain), forcing Travis to defend himself. At this point, a scuffle broke out. This whole incident is unfortunate. Travis McCoy and Gym Class Heroes are anything but violent. Their message is about racial unity and having a good time. It’s amazing that in 2008 there are still people out there that would say such ignorant things.” McLynn adds that McCoy has apologized to the Warped Tour’s founder and the band’s fans.

Why peeps need to be hatin’? Seriously, what the hell is wrong with kids nowadays? Why bother spending however much on a ticket to see a musical act when your intention is to insult them and then be subsequently surprised when they get mad and beat your ass? I don’t blame McCoy for conking that dumbass on the head. If someone had insulted me and then hit me in a sensitive, injured area I wouldn’t think twice about calling them out and giving them a chronic beatdown.

I loved the Gym Class Heroes before I heard this story, and now, I have a new reason to love them: beating by microphone. Better not let Amy Winehouse read this story, she’s already in enough trouble.

Amy Winehouse Attacks Fan, Calls Kanye West A Name, Generally Acts Stupid

Oh, Amy, Amy, Amy.  The hits just keep on a-comin’.  *rimshot*

Amy Winehouse had an exciting weekend.  Not only did she call singer Kanye West a nasty name for which her momma should wash her mouth out with soap for:

Towards the end of the set, the singer’s comments between songs became increasingly bizarre. Firstly she asked: “Are there any black people in the crowd? Where’s Don Letts?” before ‘Love Is A Losing Game’, then launched into a tirade about Jay-Z and Kanye West.

She said: “Let’s hear it for Jay-Z. The man has got bollocks to come here, and play the tunes you don’t even know you remember. Imagine if it was a c**t like Kanye West. ‘C**ts Like Kanye’ - that should be his next album title.”

But she also made an unwise decision to go into the crowd to sing her hit Rehab, and practically incited a riot:

The troubled 24-year-old singer, who has a long history of drug abuse, seemed to rain blows on the man as those surrounding him reeled back in astonishment.

Television cameras captured the incident, which happened after she had descended from the stage to sing her most famous hit, Rehab.

Crowd members claimed the singer lashed out in response to a derogatory comment about her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, after she spent much of the show making slurring references to ‘my Blakey’. [...]

Her publicist said she had reacted instinctively when someone tried to pull her trademark beehive hairdo.

Festival organiser Michael Eavis’s version of events was that the man had made a grab at Miss Winehouse’s breasts.

However, the alleged man in question has a different version of what happened:

James Gostelow, 25, from London, came forward today claiming he was was the fan struck in the head by the singer.

Mr Gostelow claimed she turned on him after someone in the crowd behind him threw a hat at her.

He came forward to clear his name after some reports said she was groped.

Mr Gostelow told the BBC he was that reveller - but he did not think Winehouse was aiming at him. [...]

Mr Gostelow said it was not too sore but ‘more shock than anything else having got up early to see her then being hit by her’.

He said: ‘The crowd was going absolutely crazy, everyone was pushing and shoving but that’s part of it.’

Asked if he would consider contacting the police, Mr Gostelow said: ‘No, I would never want to take anything so far, and at the end of the day it’s all part of being at the front to be honest with you, and being crushed by thousands of people here at Glastonbury.

‘It’s part of the experience I suppose.’

Okay. First, I’m not even a famous person, but I’ve been to enough things involving famous people to know that for someone on Amy’s level of fame to descend into a crowd of people is sheer madness, bordering on lunacy.  In short, a very stupid decision.  She was practically at the end of her set, she knew the crowd was in a frenzy, yet she chose to climb down amongst them.  What did she expect?

Oh wait, I forgot…I’m thinking with a non-drug-addled brain.  My bad.

And for her to call Kanye West anything is just silly.  Kanye is definitely not one of my favorite people.  He’s arrogant, smug, and full of himself.  But the word Amy used was highly derogatory and she was out of line.  I mean, she shouldn’t be up there insulting her fellow musicians…it will come back to haunt her.

But what was with the comment to start with?  She’s basically calling Jay-Z a has-been and making fun of Kanye because he wasn’t there, as well as giving off a decided unfavorable vibe towards black people.  It seems that Kanye isn’t the only person arrogant and full of themselves.  I think perhaps Amy has let her fame go to her head, and she isn’t quite the common girl from Camden Town that she wants us to believe she is, for all her willingness to brawl in the dirt.

Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot, huh?  Maybe she just got tired of shooting up through her foot and decided to try something different.
