Sarah Palin has written a book called Going Rogue.
It hits book stores today.
It’s being called a memoir of her life.

I’m sorry, a memoir? It’s not like she has this great history behind her life as a hockey Mom and ex Governor of Alaska. And certainly her political career has been beyond laughable.

So the question now is…
will Palin’s book end up on the bestseller list? Or go over like a fart in church?

Besides the obvious that will plague this book, (Palin’s lack of popularity) I read that her book was ghostwritten by Lynn Vincent. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
Why you ask? Whos’ Lynn Vincent?

Lovely Lynn is not only the ghostwriter of Sarah’s book, she is pretty cozy with well known, white supremacist, Robert Stacy McCain (no relation to McCain the maverick) and she co-wrote a book with him.

She (Lynn) is also staunchly anti-gay, backing the controversial vote to re-criminalise gay marriage in California, and – this is where Palin and her publishers might have drawn the line, but didn’t – she is closely associated with a well-known white supremacist.

He is Robert Stacey NcCain, a former editor at the Washington Times, a paper he left two years ago after a steaming row with a colleague.

Another Vincent collaboration was with a retired general, William Boykin, former head of the US Army’s Special Forces Command. He described his career mission as to defeat Satan in order to save America as a Christian country. “We are hated because we are a nation of believers,” he said.

“Defeat Satan to save America as a Christian country”?
Yikes! What year is this again?

As mentioned previously, Lynn is also a credited author on Robert Stacy McCain’s book, “Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party”. Again, just lovely.

After resigning as governor in late July, Palin spent most of August in San Diego working with Vincent on the book, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” Rumors swirled about Palin sightings at Vincent’s condo complex in north San Diego County. Palin reportedly was joined here by her family and top aide, Meghan Stapleton. This month, Palin huddled with her editors in New York.

So out of all the ghostwriters that Palin had to choose from, she picked Lynne Vincent? As always, Palin shows her brilliance. And to think that she ran for VP. *shudders*

What did Mark Halperin of Time have to say about Going Rogue?

Based on discussions with various sources who have seen or been briefed on the book’s contents, here’s what you can expect from “Going Rogue”:

* just five chapters—but they are very, very long.

* some score settling with McCain aides she believes ill-served her (names will be named).

* a hearty bashing of the national media.

* an account of how her upbringing shaped her maverick sensibilities.

* a testimonial to the importance of faith in her life.

* a warm and personal tone, written in Palin’s own voice, despite the involvement of a collaborator.

Two things not in the book:

* Don’t look for hefty policy prescriptions.

* Once source who has seen  “Going Rogue” says it does not include an index.  That would give Palin a subtle revenge on the party’s Washington establishment, whose members tend to flip to the back pages and scan for their own names. If they want to know what Sarah Palin has to say about them, they will have to buy the book—and read the whole thing.

Let’s recap, shall we?
She picked a ghostwriter who is anti gay, who is a creationist, and who has has teamed up with white supremacist Robert Stacy McCain.
There’s nothing in the book on policy. (well no surprise, she can’t write what she doesn’t know)
There are FIVE chapters in her book with NO index.
She bashes the media big time, even though they are the ones who put her on the map.
She throws people she once worked with under the bus, and adds a touch of holy rolling goodness.

WOW! COUNT ME OUT.

Now according to Comcast News,

Palin doesn’t elaborate on her book compensation, describing the $1.25 million figure only as a “retainer” that appears to be a reference to her lucrative advance.

So $1.25 big ones for a ghostwritten ”memior”?
Again… wow!

I think once the right wingers are done buying Palin’s crappy book, (Elisabeth Hasselback probably camped out at Barnes and Nobles last night) this book may be headed right for the bargain bin.

Although it would make quite the dandy door stop! Gotcha!

Everyone has their own taste when it comes to music.

What may be considered music to one’s ears, may be considered simply torturous to others. Just because I feel that Michael Bolton sounds like a cat getting skinned alive, and that his music is some sort of cruel joke to all of mankind, doesn’t mean that some other tone deaf person has to agree with me.

One thing is for certain, whether it is the sweet voice of Bonnie Raitt or the overrated raspy voice of Bruce who stepped in it Springsteen… if it is played at decibels to make you feel that your ears are going to bleed and it is played over and over… it can be quite torturous no matter who it is.

Everyone is aware that the prisoners at Gitmo (Guantánamo Bay) were needlessly tortured by water boarding along with other degrading and unspeakable acts. 

One of the methods used was music played repeatedly and at ear piercing levels. The songs used and some of the artists who made that music are not too happy to say the least. How would you feel if one of your songs was used to torture someone? I am sure you would be horrified.

Well, Michael Stipe of REM, along with twenty or so other artists have aired their disgust, and have banned together and formed Close Gitmo Now.   

A little info on Gitmo first, before we get into which performers are saying Gitmo has to go.

Gitmo has held nearly 800 detainees in it’s history. An alarming majority of those detainees were never charged, nor went to trial. Only THREE of those detainees have ever been convicted of a crime.To keep Gitmo open is costing tax payers MILLIONS.

So what did the spokesman for the CIA say when it came to using music as torture?
He said nuh-uh.

George Little, a CIA spokesman said:

“music was used only for security, rather than “punitive purposes”

And in a 2005 CIA document, it stated,

“loud music or white noise was needed “to mask sound and prevent communication among detainees”

So what tunes and artists made it to the Gitmo “top 20″?

According to the National Security Archive, they used anything from the Meow Mix jingle, to the Barney theme song. They used such artists as Marylin Manson to Britney Spears. Although the Meow Mix jingle and the Barney theme song both make me cringe and is enough to drive anyone buggy, at ANY volume… I wonder if the Meow Mix or the Barney people have a problem with the fact their music was used at Gitmo? I haven’t heard anything from either of them and I have to say, if they don’t have a problem with it, then I have a problem with them.

Why would they use the Meow Mix jingle and the Barney theme if it was just “to mask sound and prevent communication among detainees”?
And why were detainees subjected to “variable light patterns” while this music was played? Is the CIA going to say they wanted to have a disco effect for the detainees? Although it really wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

If the CIA claims are true, then why didn’t they just use classical music at non dangerous levels without light patterns? The term liar liar pants on fire comes to mind.

Another little pesky factor besides the CIA not having the permission of the artists to use their music, is the fact that the artist’s music was used as an interrogation tool.

So which artists are pissed and saying close Gitmo now ?
Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Brown, REM, Pearl Jam, Roseanne Cash just to name a few.

REM call for Guantanamo closure

Rock bands including Pearl Jam and REM have joined a coalition of musicians to support the US president’s efforts to close the Guantanamo Bay prison.

The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo, which also includes former military officers, launched on Tuesday.

Many of the artists who have signed up are angry that their music was used as an interrogation tool in the jail.

But CIA spokesman George Little said music was used only for security, rather than “punitive purposes”.

In a statement, REM said: “We have spent the past 30 years supporting causes related to peace and justice. To now learn that some of our friends’ music may have been used as part of the torture tactics without their consent or knowledge, is horrific. It’s anti-American, period.”

Other artists to sign up to the coalition include Jackson Browne, Steve Earle, Roseanne Cash, Billy Bragg, Bonnie Raitt and Rage Against The Machine.

On behalf of the campaign, the National Security Archive in Washington is filing a Freedom of Information Act request seeking classified records that detail the use of loud music as an interrogation device.

‘Terrify and punish’

A report published in November 2008 by the Senate Armed Services Committee report, has already made several references to the technique.

In one case interrogators played records to “stress” a prisoner, Mohamedou Ould Slahi, who believed music was forbidden.

In 2003, he was questioned while being “exposed to variable lighting patterns” and repeated plays of a song called Let the Bodies Hit the Floor by the band Drowning Pool.

Jayne Huckerby, from New York University’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, said loud music was also played at clandestine prisons run by the CIA.

Following an early information request, Ms Huckerby received a CIA document dated December 2005 in which the agency explained that the use of loud music or white noise was needed “to mask sound and prevent communication among detainees”.

She argued that such sounds were not a “benign security tool,” but a way “to humiliate, terrify, punish, disorient and deprive detainees of sleep, in violation of international law”.

According to the National Security Archive, tracks by AC/DC, Britney Spears, the Bee Gees and Marilyn Manson were used at Guantanamo.

The Meow mix cat food jingle, the Barney theme song and an assortment of Sesame Street tunes also were played into detainees’ cells.

But the CIA insisted any music was played “at levels far below a live rock band”.

And Major Diana Haynie, a spokeswoman for Joint Task Force Guantanamo, said loud music has not been used with detainees since the fall of 2003.

Barack Obama pledged to close the Guantanamo detention camp by January, but Republican opposition in Congress has made fulfilling that promise look less likely.

 

So one of the reasons that Gitmo remains open is due to Republican opposition?
Although I am certianly not surprised by this…. WHY ARE THEY OPPOSED?
What reasons could the Republicans have to want to keep Gitmo going?

The NY Times stated that the estimated annual cost to operate Guantánamo Bay is anywhere from $90 million to $118 million. There are 226 detainees left at Gitmo. That is a cost of $400.000 to $520.000 per detainee. To incarcerate a prisoner in a supermax prison would be $75,000 in the US. Is anyone paying attention to this simple math? Get the facts

At a time when the US is in such an economic mess due to the carnage that was left behind by the lovely Bush administration, perhaps the millions of dollars spent on keeping Gitmo open can be used elsewhere? Ya think?

Now before our comment section turns into a shouting match between Republicans and Democrats…..
and people telling me to get my facts straight, (I only report what is out there) remember that this article is about how horrible it was to use an artist’s music to torture people AND the fact that their music was used without their consent. Not to mention what it costs to keep Gitmo going.

So if you have a comment about Close Gitmo Now or the musicians who started the petition, then that is fine. But if you want to argue about what Obama has done or not done to clean up Bush’s mess that he left behind, or the BS spin and scare tactics that the Republicans are using when it comes to the health care plan, (you know who you are, you silly teabaggers) OR if you are a Michael Bolton fan, then please go argue elsewhere. *SNICKER*

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

This has not been the best week for Scientology.

October has proven to be one of Scientology’s worst months in history. Between being found guilty of fraud in France, celebrity Paul Haggis telling them “see yah!,” the ABC Nightline series with Tommy Davis walking out on the interview, the two new books coming out by ex members “Blown For Good” by Marc Headley and “My Billion Year Contract” by Nancy Many, the many new pending lawsuits, their orgs closing left and right, and with many members leaving….. it’s safe to say, it’s not too cool to be a Scientologist right now.

This past Sunday and Monday, the St. Petersburg Times reported on interviews they conducted 
with former members of the cult. Today was their last installment in their three part series. It was the story of a former member, Don Jason who actually had to jump off a ship to try to gain his freedom. We will get to Don a bit later.

The interviews included former member’s accounts of being chased, harassed and followed by private investigators. Ex members explained how they were drawn back in to the cult and convinced to stay, against their better judgment. They thought they were doing the right thing by trying to have a clean slate with the cult, but time after time when they returned, it only made matters worse for them and prolonged their exit. Some members just wanted to simply start their lives over and to be left alone, and they succeeded, but soon they found out they were infiltrated by Scientology plants pretending to be their friends.

The cult hired private investigators to hunt down these members that had left. Once the former members were caught up with, they were convinced to come back and “route out” of Scientology. These former members were also asked to sign a ”pumped up” affidavit, so the cult would be able to cover their butts if these members were to leave and speak out against the cult.

Well that time has come. Former members who spoke out against Scientology to the SP Times are seeing information which was contained within those affidavits they signed once again.

Scientology spokes-creep Tommy Davis, (actress Anne Archer’s son) has pulled the affidavits out and showed them to the SP Times in the cult’s defense against the former member’s claims and stories. The cult also dug into these former member’s confidential files and put a crazy, allegation-laden, Scientology spin on their information to try to discredit them.

Scientology spokes-idiot Tommy Davis also denied the cult ever hired private investigators themselves, but that the PI’s were hired by THEIR Scientology lawyers. Way to throw your scum bag lawyers under the bus Scientology! What a bunch of cowards.

I would imagine the cult’s top lawyers like Kendrick Moxon, Helena Kobrin and Monique E. Yingling may be getting pretty sweaty palms right about now.

Miserable Kendrick Moxon

FYI… years ago, Moxon’s daughter Stacy Meyer, died at Gold Base in Gilman Hot Springs Ca. She joined the Sea Org at age 16 I believe. She died by electrocution INSIDE an underground transformer vault on the property. The details are too lengthy to get in to. The case was looked into, but not enough in my opinion. No words can describe a person like Moxon.

His daughter was cremated and her ashes were released at sea. Which sounds all too familiar to cult founder and con man, L. Ron Hubbard’s death. Moxon’s daughter’s death remains a mystery, just like other Scientology related deaths that never made any sense. Some day, those who know what actually happened will come forward. Sorry to side track from the SP Times, but now that Scientology has literally thrown their lawyers under the bus, it made me wonder how Moxon will handle these claims by Davis. People would love to hear what Moxon has to say. Isn’t Scientology saying more or less that they are not liable for the PI’s activities that THEIR lawyers hired? Interesting spin.

The St. Pete’s Times had lengthy interviews and also video taped former members while they told their stories. Their body language told me that they were telling the truth. These videos are posted on the SP Times website for all to see.

The name Pat Broeker came up in one of the interviews, and although he declined to be interviewed by the SP Times, this is one man that must have Scientology shaking in it’s boots.

Pat Broeker was L. Ron Hubbard’s personal messenger and was said to be next in line to take over Scientology when Hubbard died. Broeker’s nickname was  ”007″.

Broeker and his wife Annie were very close to Hubbard. Towards the end of Hubbard’s life, Hubbard was staying in a 40 ft trailer in Creston. Some excerpts from the LA Times story The Final Days by Joel Sappell and Robert W. Welkos written in 1990,

From Chapter four:

“The church said Hubbard went into seclusion to continue his Scientology research and to resurrect his science fiction-writing career. But former aides have said he dropped from sight to avoid subpoenas and government tax agents probing allegations that he was skimming church funds.

“They alleged that Hubbard skimmed millions of dollars from church coffers while he was in hiding”

“His thin gray hair, with streaks of the old red, hung without sheen to his shoulders. He had grown a stringy, unkempt beard and mustache. His round face was now sunken and his ruddy complexion had turned pasty. He was an old man and he was nearing death.”

Not very glamorous for the revered founder of Scientology. But members of course refuse to believe that any of those reports are true. Hubbard eventually suffered a stroke which left him unable to get out of bed and his speech was impaired. I guess his “OT powers” could not help him.

L. Ron “dropped his body” (kicked the bucket in scio speak)  on Jan 24th, 1986.  The particulars surrounding Hubbard’s death were very mysterious and many thought he may have been murdered. When the Scientology attorney rushed to get Hubbard’s body cremated, the cremation center became suspicious when they found out it was L. Ron Hubbard and insisted on doing blood tests. Vistaril was found in his bloodstream. Vistaril is a pysche drugs, and using such drugs are violently against Scientology’s beliefs. A full autopsy was not performed due to the cult’s claims of it being against their religion. A cover up perhaps?

Odd.. When John Travolta’s son died, he also had a quickie autopsy and the body was cremated 
right away. Very eerie.

Hubbard’s ashes were tossed into the sea from a TINY boat and there were only a few people in attendance. Sound familiar? Both David Miscavige and Broeker where in attendance. And although Scientologists do not make a big deal about death because they believe that a person comes back several times after death… I find it puzzling that the founder of Scientology died in such a mysterious manner and had such a tiny insignificant ceremony with hardly anyone in attendance. Makes no sense what so ever. Another account of Hubbard’s last days can be found here.

Of course Scientology told it’s members that Hubbard dropped his body and went “exterior” (went outside his body) to go study the upper levels of Scientology’s Bridge To Total Freedom, and members of course believed this fantasy hook, line and sinker. Miscavige then took over the cult. Although according to another reliable source, Miscavige had already been running everything four years prior to Hubbard’s death. 

So Pat Broeker is definitely a man of interest, to say the least. He must know an awful LOT of juicy things that Scientology would love to keep quiet.

Another BIG thing that is kept quiet? Broeker’s wife Annie. She supposedly got put on RPF (punishment) years ago and was “straightened out”. People have not seen or heard from her in years. Nobody is sure where she is.

That also goes for cult leader David Miscavige’s wife. Shelly Miscavige. For someone who is the wife of the leader of the ”fastest spreading religion” in the world. *SNICKER*, Where the hell is she? There are hardly ANY pictures of her anywhere and she never attends any of the big  Scientology “Ideal Org” openings or any of the big IAS (International Association of Scientologists) events.

At the very least you would think that cult members would question where she is after all these years of her being MIA. But nope, they just keep their blinders on and keep their eye on the prize. But sadly, there isn’t any prize, only empty bank accounts, ruined lives and sorrow.

If Broeker was to come forward with all that he knew, it would be the icing on the cake. He holds the key to many questions that need to be answered. Another big question… how did David Miscavige actually weasel his way into becoming the cult leader in the first place? Miscavige blackmailing Broeker is a huge possibility. But that was years ago and now Broeker has a lot more leverage. I hope Broeker has some decency left in his heart and comes forward and sings like a canary. It’s time.

Now back to the SP Times….

Former member, Don Jason, who was the former No. 2 Officer in Clearwater, and the focus of part three. He tells his story of how he was finally able to leave the cult. Although he didn’t just up and leave, he had to ESCAPE by jumping off a ship.

Don was locked in a cabin aboard Scientology’s asbestos laden cruise ship the Freewinds. FYI… The Scientology Freewinds is also guilty of polluting the island of Bonaire and have been caught red handed dumping pollutants as we reported previously.

Don claims there were cameras monitoring his every move. And when he was informed that he had to go on Scientology’s RPF, (Rehabilitation Project Force) he said he had had enough.

Don was without his passport. (Scientology takes all Sea Org members passports ) He luckily had his driver’s license and a few blank checks that he kept hidden from the guards on the ship on arrival.

Don had planned his escape over many months, and finally pulled a “MacGyver” and constructed what looked like a rolling pin, so he can make his way down the ship’s cable like a zip line off the side of the ship.

His getaway off the ship was successful, but it was only the start of a fierce chase by the cult. The cult was trying to retrieve Don back, so he can hopefully stay in and also to sign an affidavit, in which the cult would of course put their spin on it, keep it on file and then use it to cover their butts if he ever spoke out.

Luckily, Don did finally get free from the cult and is speaking out today. And of course the cult was right on cue and pulled out that embellished affidavit that Don signed after they found out he spoke to the SP Times. It was rife with Scientology spin and lies. The cult did the same to other former members who were interviewed by the SP Times.

I don’t understand why Scientology thinks that showing these affidavits that people signed under duress have any validity what so ever. People do desperate things in desperate situations, and Scientology ends up looking less and less credible with each affidavit they pull out.

That is not the only sleazy tactic that they have pulled. The cult also dug into member’s private files which holds intimate details on them which were acquired through auditing sessions and “sec checks”. They dig for anything that they can use to spin, and then printed it in their Freedom Magazine. *shakes head*

For a “church” to boast such trumped up numbers like millions of members and thousands of orgs,  and parade their celebutards around… they certainlyact like a bunch of two year olds when they hear any criticism about them. Some of these former members were just telling their stories. They were not bringing them to court. But yet Scientology went totally ballistic on them.

But it didn’t stop there….
The cult has gone as far as taking out Google ads against the SP Times. They are trying to sway people into reading their Freedom Magazine “slam book” against former members and the SP Times by providing a link to their magazine in their ads. The cult’s Freedom Magazine makes the National Inquirer look like the Associated Press. I hope people do go ahead and read it, because it is SO worth the laugh.

To top it off, the cult took out MANY visual ads which appeared on the SP Times website. You may have seen some of their ads appear here on Glosslip from time to time. But those particular ads are randomly generated by Google and appear when there is matching subject content. Glosslip has no control over the ads. But the ads that appeared on the SP Times website were purchased by the cult I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

How ironic is this?
Scientology spending member’s dollars to pay for what they have called a ”suppressive newspaper” to run their silly promos in defense of ex members telling their stories of abuse. Oh! It’s just too delicious for words!

So keep on doing what your doing Scientology….

Another really delicious aspect of this coverage, and all the other things that have gone down about Scientology lately, is that pesky little problem with their tax exemption status. You see under tax exemption status 501(c)(3), an organization CAN NOT be involved in ANY illegal activities. Oh snap!

Allegedly, Scientology obtained their tax exemption status by intimidating IRS agents with threats of leaking personal information. This information was obtained by PI’s hired by Scientology. The IRS agents finally caved in and granted them their tax exemption status back in 1993. Or was it Scientology LAWYERS who hired the PI’s to dig up stuff on the IRS agents? The cult lawyers better start planning their exit! Wonder what it will feel like for the hunters to be the hunted?

Let’s see now, according to ex members, the cult obtains personal information through hired PI’s, harass and stalk ex members and their families, hold people against their will, they confiscate Sea Org member passports and hold on to them, they rifle through Sea Orger’s mail, pay Sea Org members below minimum wage, have implemented family disconnection policies, have caused mental and physical abuse, they are operating hundreds of front groups, and have acquired properties and vast amounts of real estate under phony names ….shall I go on? Do I need to go on?

Hey Governments of the world! Get your head’s out of your asses and DO SOMETHING!

This past Friday evening, ABC’s Nightline aired part two of their Inside Scientologyseries with anchor Martin Bashir. If you missed it, the videos are posted on ABC’s website. It is a MUST see.

Friday’s show was a continuation from Thursday night’s interview with ex-Scientology top executives Marty Rathbun, and Amy Scobee, as well as ex member Bruce Hines. They were all former members of Scientology’s Sea Organization.

Bashir also continued his interview with Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis who ended ripping off his microphone, and storming off the set. We will get to that juicy part later.

Friday evening’s coverage focused on the celebrities in Scientology. Tom Cruise was the main focus.  Tommy Davis claimed that Scientology does not given special treatment to celebrities, but I beg to differ. Cruise considers cult leader David Miscavige one of his closest friends and Miscavige not only attended Cruise’s wedding, but he also tagged along on Tom and Katie’s honeymoon. Doesn’t everyone bring their “church” leader on their honeymoon with them?

Cruise is not only BFF’s with David Miscavige, but he was also a huge advocate for Scientology. I say “was” because Cruise has really simmered down since his couch jumping days. His leaked Scientology video, his insults against Brooke Shields for taking medication for her postpartum depression, and his famous “glib” interview with Matt Lauer has put a serious damper on his career and his popularity.

If you ask just about anyone on the street these days of their opinion of Tom Cruise, most will say he is a kook.

Cruise is trying to re-boost his career, by not speaking publicly about Scientology and trying to show the world how “normal” his life is with his family. But are people buying it? I doubt it. Cruise is DEEP into Scientology. He co-founded the NY Rescue Workers and Firefighters Detoxification Program after 911. Again, this program is EXACTLY the same as Scientology’s Purification Rundown and their Narconon program.

Cruise also lobbied in Washington with a quest to have every school in the US teaching Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s “tech.” Applied Scholastics is the front name used in the schools, but it is without a doubt Scientology. Applied Scholastics has already infiltrated some of the schools in the US. I am not talking about Scientology schools like Delphi Academy and Will Smith’s New Village Academy, but rather regular public schools in our towns that are teaching children Scientology tech.

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, they started teaching Scientology tech in Prescott Middle School in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Applied Scholastics representatives assured them that the program was secular.  A couple of quotes from that story posted on the Scientology V. Education website:

The Baton Rouge school district agreed to pay $20, 000 a year to Applied Scholastics for a licensing fee and to hire a teacher from the nonprofit to help teach the course. Costs were offset by seed money that Travolta contributed and by donations from local businesses. Parents were enlisted to volunteer as tutors.

Dave Touretsky, a research professor at Carnegie Mellon University, that’s only because the academic experts don’t know the intricacies of Scientology.Study tech is “covert religious instruction” and therefore unconstitutional to teach in public schools, said Touretsky, who has studied Scientology and written extensively about Hubbard’s study skills curriculum.

Scientologists will use the program at Prescott to sell the program to other struggling communities, Touretsky said, and to promote the image of Scientology.

Rest assured, the teachers and the people in that town have NO idea what they are teaching these kids, nor understand how dangerous the tech can be for their children. Former Scientology member Monica Pignotti can tell you just exactly how dangerous the study tech is. Click here to read up on it yourself. I am not sure if Prescott Middle School has continued teaching this tech or not. I hope town officials and teachers have done their homework by now.

So a word of caution people, if your child’s school is approached with Applied Scholastics or any anti-drug pamphlets that contain the initials “CCHR” written anywhere on the pamphlet, please stay clear! The CCHR is another Scientology front group. Also stay away from the names Way To Happiness, or The Drug Free Marshals, just to name a few.

Scientology Can Use Some Body Language Courses!

These names are are ALL Scientology front groups. Sorry to sway away from  ABC’s interview, but any chance I have to make people aware that Scientology is trying to infiltrate our children’s schools, I feel compelled to make mention of it.

So back to the interview…

Former Scientology Sea Org member, Amy Scobee who was one of Scientology’s top execs and also one of the people who spoke out in the St. Petersburg Times articles, spoke with Bashir about the Purification Rundown.

She tells Bashir a horrifying story about when she was MADE to go on the Purification Rundown as part of a punishment within the Sea Org. Amy explains how daily she was ingesting 5,000 milligrams of niacin, exercising (usually a treadmill), and sitting in a sauna for five hours, for EIGHT MONTHS. She said she had“grey stuff ” coming out of her pores. I would imagine she was also ingesting oil, as this is another part of the Purification Rundown. As horrible as it was for Amy to be on this whacko science regimen, (which does not have any scientific data to back up its claims of actually detoxing the body at all) it was one of the things that woke Amy up and forced her decision to leave Scientology. And we are sure glad she is out. Bravo Amy!

Of course Scientology denies Amy’s story and says that the Purification Rundown is used for “religious reasons” by members. Hmmm.
Scientology is pretty crafty. They use different names for the Purification Rundown, like the NY Firefighters Detox Program, Narconon, and Criminon, and offer this program to the public and ask towns for funding using the town’s tax payer’s dollars. Exactly what they do with Applied Scholastics,  and The Drug Free Marshals etc…

They say that the program is secular and has NOTHING to do with Scientology. But yet when Scientology is pushed up against the wall, (as they were with Amy’s claims) they claim that the Purification Rundown is for “religious reasons.”

So how can they possibly claim that their front group programs are secular and have nothing to do with Scientology, when they are IDENTICAL to the same programs they are calling ”religious”?
Confusing? That is their intention.

Back to Rathbun…
Marty Rathbun continued his interview with Bashir and said that he himself has “audited” both Tom Cruise and John Travolta. Boy… I would love to know what is in their files! Of course everything contained within a Scientology member’s file is supposed to be confidential. That is…confidential until you cross Scientology. After the St. Petersburg Times articles came out with ex member’s stories, Scientology published personal information on Amy Scobee, Tom DeVocht, Mike Rinder and Marty Rathbun in a 80 page issue of their Freedom Magazine.

Scientology even gave the “defectors” nicknames like the King Pin, The Adulteress, and so on. It was not only the MOST childish thing that I have ever read by an organization, it was rife with lies about the ex-members and Scientology’s spin. Proving once again that Scientology’s Fair Game policy is alive and well.

Although it was not brought up in the interview, Rathbun is known as an independent Scientologist. And there are also Freezoners. Freezoners are members who have left the organized “church,” but still want to practice Scientology. There are groups of Freezoners here and there world wide. Scientology now considers these people who have previously dedicated years of their lives and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on trying to climb up the Scientology’s Bridge their evil enemies. They are considered as SP’s, or suppressive persons.

Freezoners left the church as they felt that L. Ron Hubbard’s Tech was being “squirreled” by cult leader David Miscavige. To ”squirrel the tech” means to change the writings of L. Ron Hubbard in any way. Miscavige has changed the tech many times. He has changed it, repackaged it, and told the members that the old books were now incorrect, and that they had to buy the “newer” version. This was done to keep more money coming into Scientology. Sadly, members actually fell for it.

Changing any of L. Ron Hubbard’s tech is considered a big no-no in Scientology and many current members consider David Miscavige to be a suppressive person. Why they continue to stay in the “church” is a mystery. But slowly, that seems to be changing.

People who are Freezoners, also did not agree with the way the “church” was being run and could no longer stand all the abuses and illegal activities that were going on, so they decided to leave the “church” and set up business elsewhere, and yes it is in fact a business. People who want to practice Scientology outside the cult still have to pay for auditing and courses to whomever is offering them. What they charge is nowhere near the hundreds of thousands of dollars that organized Scientology charges. Which is where Rathbun comes in. He was one of Scientology’s top auditors before he left, and he continues to audit people today.

If today’s organized Scientology continues to crumble, Rathbun can end up with more “disciples” to audit. Perhaps he is hopeful for Travolta and Cruise to leave the cult and audit with him once again. Not likely though, especially not for Cruise. Cruise considers Rathbun an enemy of the cult and and a huge SP. Cruise does not appreciate what Rathbun is saying about David Miscavige and the abuses of the cult.

Tom Cruise’s lawyer sent a statement to ABC Nightline and stated that even though Cruise is aware of the things being said about David Miscavige, Cruise does not believe it.

BFF’s For Ever!

Really Tom? Miscavige is ruining your career in case you didn’t notice. How many people is it going to take for you to wake up and understand that David Miscavige is an abusive tyrant who only wanted you for PR purposes to promote the cult and oh yeah…take your money?

And as Bashir pointed out to Davis in the interview…these stories of abuse from ex-members were from randomized people. And of course Davis quipped back to Bashir with “Well that’s how it is made to look.” Sure it is Tommy.

Rathbun was in Scientology for 27 years, and his brain is totally immersed in the tech. He still believes that con man L. Ron Hubbard is the best thing since sliced bread and that his writings are still WORD.

Rathbun never completely left Scientology, and he probably never will. But we are awful glad he came forward to speak out, as well as the others. Many more are likely to follow.

After 27 years, and being one of Miscavige’s top lieutenants, 
Rathbun is still programmed to live, eat and breathe Scientology. Rathbun also thinks David Miscavige should be made “to pay the piper” for all the people he has abused. Of course Rathbun himself admitted to being an abuser, but he never mentioned that he should pay the piper as well. Hmmm.

Freezoners who continue to practice Scientology, still mean they are being brainwashed, no matter how you cut it.  It’s the way the courses, the auditing and the drills were set up by Hubbard, at least there isn’t a Sea Org and David Miscavige is out of the picture. But hey, people can believe in what they want, as long as it doesn’t hurt and abuse others and as long as it doesn’t end up being another 
abusive cult off-shoot.

So getting back to Scientology spokesman Mr.Tommy Davis.
As I mentioned in the last article on this series, Tommy Davis’ body language was VERY telling. Again, I noticed he sat with tightly clenched hands, laughed nervously, and at one point was sitting with his arms and legs totally crossed. He looked like he was wrapped so tight, that you couldn’t pull a pin out if his butt with a tractor.
Bashir proceeds to ask Tommy about the e-meter and HIS own personal beliefs. Tommy was not very convincing when it came to the e-meter. The conversation went as follows:

Bashir: Has the e-meter ever been subjected to randomized clinical trials to assess it’s efficacy?

Davis: I have no idea. I don’t know why it would be. It works in Scientology and that’s what people use it. I don’t know why it would be subjected to random clinical trials.

Bashir: Because it’s a… mechanism for therapeutic care you just said…

Davis: In a religion.

Bashir: But has it ever been tested objectively is what I’m asking?

Davis: I mean it gets used every day by Scientology counselors.

Bashir: I’m not asking that. I’m asking…

Davis: To my knowledge, no. … And as far as evidence of the e-meter and its efficacy, the evidence of that is in those Scientologists who have used it to great benefit. And as far as the Church of Scientology is concerned, it’s the only evidence that matters, is the people and the results.

“In a religion?” Then why is the e-meter used for Scientology “Stress Tests” on the general public?

I wish Bashir asked Davis that question and I also wish there was an e-meter present at Bashir’s interview. Of course Tommy would never agree to be put “on the cans.”I also doubt that Scientology would ever agree to have an e-meter present at ANY interview.

It’s hard to believe that the e-meter has never been tested objectively or questioned. It obviously instills fear in so many of its members because of it being an actual lie detector. It also enslaves members. And although I am sure Scientologists sign all sorts of waivers, using an e-meter on cult members seems not only highly questionable, but illegal. Attention Government!

The e-meter is supposedly considered a ”religious artifact” by Scientology. FYI, they tell their members to buy TWO e-meters. (one for back up of course)  E-meters cost THOUSANDS of dollars. Boy, talk about a scam.

Keep in mind, as I mentioned before, these e-meters are present on all of the Scientology “Stress Test” tables that you may see set up outside one of their “orgs.” Sadly, you can see them at flea markets, street fairs, or just set up on a sidewalk in a town. They even set up outside Walmart! You won’t see the word Scientology anywhere on their tables though. I thought I read by law, that each e-meter used by the public is supposed to carry a label on the back of it in which it states that it is used for “entertainment purposes only”. That’s funny, I thought Davis claimed it was used for “religious” purposes? Confused? Again…. Scientology’s intention.

Scientology claims that they can cure what ails you with auditing, and this has been recorded by some who have taken the Stress Test. Deception personified. Anything to get “fresh meat” into their doors.

After people take a stress test, they try to get the person to buy a Dianetics book and maybe visit their local Scientology “org” to take a “personality test.” They will also ask for your personal information at that point. After the test, they will look over your results and tell you that you are not a very happy person, and you have problems, no matter how happy you are and that they can help you. They will also ask you to watch a film, and then perhaps some time you may want to take some of their ”communication courses” that will help you, and then eventuall get you on to auditing. That’s where the brainwashing begins and that’s when they will never leave you alone once they have your personal information. Tell me how this is this still legal again?

So back to the juicy part of the ABC’s interview…
Why did Bashir say to Tommy Davis to get him so hot under the collar? So hot, that he got up and walked out.  He asked him about his beliefs. Most people when they are asked about their beliefs or about their religion, will gladly tell you all about it. Especially someone who is supposed to be a representative for a church.

But let me first explain.. If you are a Scientologist, you are not allowed to discuss your “religious beliefs” or where you are on Scientology’s Bridge To Total Freedom with non Scientologists. You can discuss your phony “wins”. But that’s about it. Scientologists are not allowed to discuss any problems they are having, doubts or say anything that can be considered negative against Scientology. If a member did discuss these things, and someone were to report it, than that person would be considered PTS. (potential trouble source). This can mean MORE hours of auditing or a “sect check” if you are in the Sea Org, which is interrogation. It can also lead to family disconnection of not corrected.

As stated before, Scientology’s e-meter works like a lie detector as confirmed by ex member Bruce Hines when he was talking with Bashir. Of course many ex members who have left that didn’t continue with Scientology as a Freezoner will also tell you that the e-meter is nothing more than a lie detector. If you lie while you are “on the cans” it will certainly show. It has nothing to do with “engrams” or removing body thetans from your body as Scientologists are convinced to believe. It’s a damn lie detector. 

Pretty snakey of Hubbard. Scientology brainwashes members and puts them on an e-meter to find out all their intimate secrets and then puts all that information into a file and then blackmails ex members by leaking their personal information if they decide to leave and speak out against the cult. What a lovely “church” indeed.

FYI, Hubbard wasn’t the one who invented the e-meter it was actually Volney Mathison.  And another FYI….most of Hubbard’s  babblings are gleaned from various other religions and smooshed all together. Buddhism being one. Hubbard stole everything from everywhere.

So getting back to Tommy and Bashir.
Bashir wanted to know if Tommy believed in the story of XENU. (pronounced zeenoo) For those of you who do not know who Xenu is, the story of Xenu can be found anywhere on the internet. The story on the internet is actually the EXACT story written by founder L. Ron Hubbard. It is also level three or OTIII, on Scientology’s Bridge to Total Freedom. Which we at Glosslip call the Bridge to Nowhere and Financial Ruin.

There are two ways to climb up the Bridge, but we are not going to get into all that. But one way in order to start climbing up the eight levels Scientology’s Bridge, a member must be deemed “clear” before he can be an “OT” and start up the Bridge. This costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and many hours of auditing, drills and courses in order to get up to that level. This can take many years.

Scientology also tells it’s members that if they were to read OTIII without going the proper path, (called “free wheeling” in scio-speak) that they can catch a pneumonia and possibly die. I kid you not. They also tell their members that some members have become very ill while doing OTIII. And before all you Scientologists out there try to defend OTIII, and say that most religions have crazy stories attached to them, which I totally agree….. Two things.

Number one…. Scientology is not a religion, it is a business, and number two… I think all the stories attached to religions are ALL eye rollers.

When Bashir asked Tommy if he believed in the story of Xenu and volcanoes and such, Tommy said:

“Martin, I am not going to discuss, the disgusting perversions of Scientology beliefs that can be found now commonly on the internet, and be put in the position of talking about things for ah, ah, ah, that, ah, talking about things that are so, fundamentally offensive, to Scientologists to discuss.”

To help you understand the story of Xenu… A YouTuber posted a video which tells the story of Xenu via South Park. (which Scientology had squashed and taken off the air of course) Click here to watch it.

Now although the show South Park is of course a comedy, the OTIII they recited was not a joke nor a spoof. It was told exactly the way it was written by Hubbard. This particular YouTube video, brilliantly included the actual 1967 lecture by L. Ron Hubbard himself who is reciting the story of Xenu and OTIII. It’s Hubbard’s own voice. This video was an excellent way to prove that the story of Xenu and OTIII is in fact told correctly. Any ex member who has done OTIII will also tell you that what is on the internet is EXACTLY the same as the OTIII level they went through and paid for. ASK THEM YOURSELF.

Now why do you think Scientology doesn’t want it’s members to know or hear about Xenu? Remember their claims of getting ill?
Now what if a member happened to hear OTIII and realized that they didn’t get ill from hearing it or reading it and found out what Scientology told them was a lie? How would Scientology look then? Check it out for yourself. Look it up and read it, or watch the video I suggested. See if you get ill! *snicker*

OTIII is such an outlandish piece of sci fi idiocy, that Scientology also fears that if their members were to hear it, they would stop paying to go up the Bridge. What member would pay ALL that money to go up the Bridge if they knew OTIII was about space aliens that were dumped in a volcano? Not too many.

Now you are probably thinking, then why doesn’t Miscavige just change OTIII or tone the story down a bit? Well if he did that, he would have to change the entire Bridge.  Reason being…. in OTIII, you learn that your body is infested with body thetans which came out of the volcanos. As you are go farther up the Bridge to the upper levels, members find out that they have even MORE body thetans attached to them that they have to get rid of via auditing on the e-meter. (of course this is more money for Scientology) So getting rid of OTIII, would not be an option. Besides the fact that OTIII is what Scientology is all about with the exception of their communication courses.

So after Bashir tries to calm Davis down (and I am paraphrasing a bit) by saying he is just trying to understand his beliefs and that he thinks he has been acting appropriately during the interview and didn’t try to mock Davis in any way…. he then asks Davis again about Xenu.
Davis replied angrily:

“I’m gonna stop you. If you’re gonna ask me that question again, and you’re going to repeat things about volcanoes and this kind of thing, and so on and so forth, I will stand up and walk out Martin. Because, because what you’re doing by doing that, is you are intentionally asking me things which you know I find offensive. And you’re insisting me on asking of them, so I’m asking you one more time…”

Too bad Bashir didn’t ask Davis why there is a volcano pictured on the front cover of all Scientology Dianetics books and why it is used as Dianetic’s logo. These books with the volcanoes can be seen in every single Scientology display window across the USA and worldwide.

Of course Bashir (my new hero) asks Davis again about Xenu, and that is when Davis stands up, rips off his mike, throws it down and walks out of the interview. Hmmm, seems like Davis could have used some of Scientology’s communication courses.  *snicker*
After all, Hubbard stated that “communication is the universal solvent”. Uh… yeah ok Lafayette.

Keep in mind that Davis was most likely drilled extensively by Miscavige before this interview, as with every other interview he does. But nobody really knows what Miscavige is telling Davis when it comes to the story of Xenu. We don’t know if he is in on the scam, or where Davis is in his Scientology teachings. Davis is trying to convince people that it is offensive to speak about his religious beliefs, when it actuality, it is only a ploy to continue to keep Scientology’s scam a secret.

But one thing for sure, no matter how much Davis is drilled before these interviews, he still sports very telling negative body language, he is way too defensive about Scientology beliefs, and he always ends up putting his foot in his mouth.

Bashir was certainly “at cause” over Davis. Davis walking out of that interview, not only made Scientology look very bad, but I was kind of surprised about the REASON why he walked out. WHY?

Davis was interviewed by John Roberts on CNN a while back, and Roberts also asked Davis about the story of Xenu. Davis said that it didn’t sound familiar to him and he was laughing and smirking as if to imply the whole thing was ridiculous. 

But THEN not very long ago….. Davis did another interview with Nathan Bacca for KESQ. Bacca asks Davis MANY questions and also asked Davis about the story of Xenu, and Davis said he WAS familiar with the material, and again said he was offended by Bacca asking him about religious beliefs. *scratches head*
This YouTube video, shows a good cross section of Tommy Davis and his ever changing story of OTIII which was reported by an Australian news channel.

So what gives Tommy? Are you NOT keeping track of what you are saying during these interviews? Or are you hoping that people didn’t see your prior interviews? 

No worries Tommy…
because we are keeping track of  everything you say for you. It’s all over the internet. on forums and all over YouTube. 

Between Tommy Davis’s footbullets, Scientology’s court cases, and a group called Anonymous who protest the cult MONTHLY and globally, Scientology has seen better days. And Tommy…. every time you stick you foot in your mouth, people everywhere are watching, recording, talking and writing about it. You have to be getting pretty tired of the taste of foot.

Bashir ended the interview with a recap and at the very end he asked viewers if they thought that Scientology should keep their tax exemption status and to go to the ABC website and leave their opinions. At that point I felt like I was at a football game, as I stood straight up from the couch and cheered ” YES!!”
It was the perfect “bazingo” at the end of the series.

He is a screen writer, a director, has won Oscars, and is a civil and human rights activist. Paul wrote a letter to Tommy Davis. In that letter, he complained about San Diego Org’s public support of Proposition 8, about Davis denying the existence of family disconnection when he was interviewed, and how he was also against Scientology using ex member’s private information to attack critics. Kirstie Alley has long been ridiculed over the past few years about her weight. From appearing on the failed sitcom Fat Actress to being Jenny Craig’s spokesperson, both of which ended in disaster. The National Enquirer has been dogging Kirstie through her weight gain and recently came out with a gem of a front page article stating that Kirstie Alley only has four years to live.

The Enquirer has always been known as a tabloid rag, and most stars let it roll off their backs like water on a duck — but not this time around. Apparently Kirstie’s 85 year-old Dad saw the article and called her very upset and asked her if she was dying. That infuriated Kirstie SO much, that her current obsession with Twitter helped her to show her true colors once again.

Kirstie took aim at the National Enquirer employee who wrote the article and posted some pretty nasty and threatening tweets, and asked her “Twitter buddies” to help her out.

The National Enquirer article that enraged Kirstie:

Kirstie Alley has just four years to live, an expert predicts. Locked in a deadly cycle of binge eating and yo-yo dieting, the former “Fat Actress” star has shaved years off her life span, according to doctors who have reviewed her medical history.

At 5-foot-8 and 250 pounds, the 58-year-old Emmy winner is “playing Russian roulette with her life,” warned Patrick Wanis, Ph.D., a human behavior expert from Miami Beach, Fla. “I added up the stressors in her life, and unless she adds more balance to it, Kirstie may only live to age 62.”

That frightening scenario is the conclusion of a longevity guide that he’s developed known as the “Life and Death Calculator.” The calculator determines a person’s estimated life expectancy by evaluating five principal body indicators.

“There are emotional, mental, physical, nutritional and spiritual stressors that can define how well we age,” explained Dr. Wanis, author of “Secrets to Losing Weight, Being Thin and Loving Your Body,” a set of three CDs. “We also look at relationships and how much support one gets from friends and family. Finally, we take lifestyle – where you live and the quality of life – into account.”

The former “Cheers” star – whose last serious romance ended in May 2000 when she called off her engagement to actor James Wilder – lost 75 pounds nearly three years ago as the poster girl for the Jenny Craig weight-loss program. But she’s regained some 90 pounds since then with a weakness for fat-laden Chinese takeout and other unhealthy foods.

And such a dramatic weight gain can dramatically shorten life span, according to a top anti-aging expert.

Now I don’t doubt that her weight is an issue to her health, but four years to live is a tad ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, I am not sticking up for Kirstie in any way. It’s extremely difficult to have respect for someone who supports a cult, a cult btw, which claims to hold ALL the answers to any mental, physical or spiritual problem you might be having. Which of course, begs the question, why can’t Kirstie turn to Scientology to help her with her weight, and to a greater extent, her overall health?

Kirstie is supposedly an OTV on Scientology’s Bridge To Total Freedom and has “donated” over five million dollars to the cult in the past. Their promises of telling members that their courses and auditing will enable them to be “at cause” over everything. They also boast about having special “OT powers” and are able to cure many afflictions. *ahem, SNICKER*

It is quite obvious that Kirstie is not  “at cause” over her weight or the constant “PR flap” she continues to be for Scientology. Which couldn’t make me happier. But it is not only a problem of Kirstie being duped by the deceptions of Scientology and giving them bad PR, now she has decided to go on Twitter and go after the employee who wrote the article by asking her Twit buddies to “Fair Game” this person.

As you may or may not know, Fair Game was actually a policy written by founder L. Ron Hubbard in which he states:

Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed. October 1967 Policy Letter (HCOPL 18 Oct 67 Issue IV, Penalties for Lower Conditions)

Alley is predictably outraged about this, and claims that the cover upset her 85 year-old father. She is urging her followers on Twitter to harass an employee at the National Enquirer, who I won’t name here. Regardless Alley seems to think this woman had a hand in the story despite the fact that she’s not listed as an author at all. Alley lists the Enquirer employee’s contact information, including her e-mail and phone number, and asks people to contact her. The term “Fair Game” is used by Alley’s cult, Scientology, and refers to the practice of revealing damaging information about detractors and harassing them relentlessly until they back down.

When I think of all the videos that got yanked off YouTube due to Scientology flagging campaigns, this really makes my blood boil.

It’s ironic that Kirstie is lashing out about the same things that Scientology is guilty of. Now I don’t want to hear any comments from Scientologists saying that Hubbard’s Fair Game policy was canceled long ago, when we all know it has NOT been canceled AT ALL and the tactic is still employed on a daily basis by their OSA (Office of Special Affairs) task force. You know every “church” has its own goon squad and private PI’s, right?

You would think that Scientology is getting kind of sick of their precious cash cow celebrities dragging down what’s left of their failed reputation. From Cruise jumping on the couch and his psychotic and bizarre Scientology tape being leaked, where he says that Scientology is the authority on the mind and they are the only ones who can help in a car accident, among other hilarious falsehoods. Then there is total whackjob and utterly adorable (insert sarcasm) Juliette Lewis, who sounds like a cat being castrated when she sings.

And let’s not forget that Scientology twit, Jenna Elfman was quoted as saying that AIDS is just a state of mind, not a disease. I swear you can’t make this crap up.

And that poor Katie Holmes went from a vivacious girl next door, to a scary Grandma in a very short time after she married Cruise.

The list just goes on and on and on. In the interest of time and space we can’t show all of Scientology’s finest, but it boggles the mind wondering which Scientology celebrity will make cult leader David Miscavige’s head explode next? Lisa Marie Presley? Hmmmm?

It seems that celebrities have really done a number on Scientology. As much as Scientology loves to boast about what FAMOUS members they have (no other “church” has EVER done this), it seems that their celebrities have turned into one big pain in the ass for them — and coincidentally, the celebs are the only ones getting preferential treatment. Not just at the fancy Scientology Celebrity Center. As we’ve discovered, the same rules don’t apply to them as other lowly members. What a kicker! Huh Scientology members?

So to all Scientology celebrities, while I wish you all to leave the cult as soon as possible…if your are going to stay in, please keep doing exactly what you have been doing and we will all just sit back and enjoy the ride with a tub of popcorn.

Years ago a term was coined: “jumping the shark”, which derived from a “Happy Days” episode featuring Henry “The Fonz” Winkler jumping over a shark in water skis. Subsequently, the show went completely down hill after that episode. But now, thanks to the crazy Tom Cruise, we have a new phrase “jumping the couch” which precedes a person’s failure. This is of course pertaining to when Cruise jumped on Oprah’s couch to profess his “love” for Katie.

Who would have ever thought that the cult itself and their precious celebrities would be their own demise? So keep tweeting Kirstie and keep jumping the couch Scientology. Karma is a sweet bitch sometimes….. ain’t it?

My blog crush, Michael K at Dlisted, posted about a 52-year old woman from Akron who was attacked with a stiletto after trying to earn some extra cash stripping at a local club. Since Akron’s practically in my backyard, I feel qualified to comment.

Jo Ellen Nolan, the granny turned stripper, was “backstage” at Club 1245 when another stripper, who goes by the name “Beautiful” attacked Nolan, for what was apparently motivated by competition and greed. “Beautiful” (both on the inside and out, clearly) clocked Ms. Nolan on her forehead with a stiletto (this sounds like a Naomi Campbell move) and caused a gash, as well as a cut on the side of Nolan’s head. That’s some stripper rage right there.

Police are still searching for the suspect, but as MK notes, all they need to do is look for the ugliest chick in Akron — not an easy task, rest assured.

My favorite quote comes from the club owner, who said, “Ms. Nolan is NOT an employee of the club” as though she some how casts this sophisticated establishment in a bad light.

I knew someone who grew up in the area, and they had the “occasion” to check out the area strip clubs and they said that the Akron-area is notorious for having the HOMELIEST strippers, and not just that, but these chicks were a bit long in the tooth. And pregnant strippers were a common sight too. As well as overweight strippers and his favorite, strippers missing teeth. Truth is, I think he might have been a regular at club 1245.

By these standards, Ms. Nolan, is pretty damn hot.

Singer Chris Brown had his day in court on Thursday, answering to charges that he gave his girlfriend Rihanna a serious beatdown:

Chris Brown appeared at Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (March 5) but did not enter a plea on two felony counts of assault and making criminal threats, stemming from his alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna on February 8. Rather, at the request of attorney Mark Geragos, Brown was granted a continuance in the case, meaning his arraignment has been pushed back until April 6. [...]

After granting Brown’s continuance request, the judge ordered the 19-year-old singer “not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone,” before asking Geragos if there were a “no-contact order” in place, to which he replied, “Miss Fenty does not request such an order.”

Outside the courtroom, Etra told E! News that Rihanna did not need a no-contact order and that the 21-year-old singer “is doing well, and she is making sure her rights are protected at every stage of the proceedings. … What will happen to Chris Brown is up to the district attorney in court.”

If Brown is convicted on the felony charges, his sentence could range from probation to up to four years in prison, CNN quoted the DA’s office as saying.

It seems the judge issued what is known as a Level One Order, which means that the two can talk and see one another but he can’t do something like threaten, hit, or fight with her without serious legal repercussions.  Rihanna did not appear in court, although her name did come up; it seems that for the trial to move ahead, Rihanna may have to testify against Chris, even though she seems to have forgiven him:

“So much of [the trial] hinges on the testimony of the victim or her willingness to testify and it’ll be interesting to see whether she cooperates with the prosecution or not,” he told reporters outside the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse this afternoon. “If she refuses to testify they’re probably not going to be able to get in whatever statements she’s already made to the police and then they have no case probably.”

When asked whether or not Rihanna could possibly face retribution for refusing to appear, he explained the legalities: “The prosecution is very familiar with continuing to prosecute domestic violence cases when the complaining witness changes her mind and doesn’t want to testify- they have often in past years sent people to jail or been willing to send people to jail if they refuse to testify. It’s just the way the law is constructed. Now there’s a real question as to whether they can do that to her.”

As for why Geragos requested a continuance, Goldman threw out two possible options. One, there could be a plea deal in the works, or two, the lawyers just need more time.

It seems that everything started when Chris got a text message from another woman; he and Rihanna started arguing, and it all went downhill from there:

*Rihanna read a three-page text message on Brown’s phone from a woman. 

*An argument followed. Brown allegedly tried to force Rihanna out of the car.

*Brown then allegedly shoved Rihanna’s head against the passenger window. Brown punched her, then continued punching Rihanna while driving.

*Blood splattered all over Rihanna’s clothing and in the interior of the car. Her mouth was filled with blood. Brown allegedly told Rihanna, “I’m going to beat the **** out of you when we get home. You wait and see.”

*Rihanna called her assistant and left a message saying, “I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there.” Brown allegedly then replied, “You just did the stupidest thing ever. I’m going to kill you.”

*The report also says Brown punched Rihanna, bit her on her ear, her fingers and put her in a headlock.

Possibly the most disturbing thing to come out of this is the news that this may not be the first time he has abused her, this is just the first time Chris got caught at it.  It seems that not only has this happened before, but that there are even worse photos of the incident than the one which has been released:

Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ, the night of the attack Rihanna told cops she was the victim of escalating violence — and the perp was Brown.

LAPD cops interviewed Rihanna after the attack and she told them Brown had been violent toward her in the past and that the attacks were getting “more violent” as time went on. [...]

And there’s something else. The photo that TMZ obtained showing Rihanna battered, bloody and bruised is mild compared to other photos. We’ve learned additional pics were taken on February 9, the day after the attack, and they are far more gruesome — the bruises and swelling far more pronounced. We’re told these photos show injuries that could be devastating in a case against Brown.

Radar has photos of what the interior of the car looked like after the fight; there are bloodstains spattered inside the car and there are definite signs of a struggle.  There is also news (from a police report) that it took Chris nine days to apologize.

But what bothers me the most is that it seems nobody can reach Rihanna through previously open channels:

US: Have you seen the new police report that details Brown biting, hitting and threatening to kill Rihanna?
Fenty: I haven’t seen anything. I hear so many things. I don’t know what to believe until I see it myself. Rihanna’s mother is telling me that she hasn’t heard anything from her [Rihanna]. She said the last she heard Rihanna was well.

US: If those reports are true, how upset are you?
RF: I don’t know what to say, honest to god. I’ve been hearing so many stories. I don’t feel any pain anymore. I’ve gone numb. I’ve heard so much. But I can’t get on to her. Her mother can’t get on to her, her brother told me she changed her email. Somebody has a stranglehold on her. I’m lost.

US: I know you’ve been speaking with your daughter over text. Is she no longer reachable?
RF: I’ll text the old numbers she had, and I call them. One girl answered, and she said, “This is not Robyn’s number anymore.” I asked, “Do you work for Robyn? Do you deal with Robyn?” And the girl hung up, so I don’t know what’s going on anymore. I’m lost.

Us: What was her last text to you?
RF: [She] said, “Daddy, I miss you.” And that’s it. And I could not reply. I saw a number and texted back, “I miss you too.” And I didn’t get another reply from her.

Very typical behavior both for someone who is abusive and their victim…the abuser will often cut off the lines of communication to loved ones and friends; sometimes, the victim even cuts off communication on their own because they don’t want to be talked out of what they know deep down is a bad decision.  In the article I wrote earlier in the week, I said that if he abuses you once, he will abuse you again…which sadly seems to have come true in this case.  It doesn’t matter what the problem is, there is no excuse for abuse.  Rihanna has gone back to Chris, her abuser, and it can be inferred that this isn’t the first time she’s gone back to him after he has abused her in some way.

I realize, as a parent, we try to be a good role model for our children; but I’d be pretty stupid if I didn’t realize that children and young people also look up to people such as sports players, musicians, singers, and movie stars.  I worry that, as a woman that other young women admire, Rihanna’s actions send the wrong message…that it is okay if you lose it with someone you supposedly care for and use them as a punching bag, as long as you say you are really really sorry after the fact.  After all, “fan” is just short for “fanatic”, and often fans just don’t see when the object of their adulation is making bad choices.

Now, having said that, do I believe that all abusers are too far gone to ever be rehabilitated?  No, I don’t.  But I also realize that an abusive person is not changed overnight.  It takes a long time to change behavior patterns, learn new ways of handling problems, and learning how to not abuse others…it certainly isn’t something that you learn in less than a month.  Rihanna going back to Chris in less than a month’s time, in my opinion, just doesn’t give her the perspective she needs to see this event in its true light.  He beat the crap out of her; she goes back in less than a month’s time.  And don’t forget, he didn’t just beat her up, he totally went psychotic and smashed her face against a car window, tried to shove her out of the car, put her in a headlock that caused her to start to pass out, and bit her repeatedly.  Read the police report.  Something is definitely not right here.

And, quite frankly, for the abuser, it takes more than words to change; it even takes more than making a decision to change.  Words are cheap, it’s actions that show one’s true character.  An alcoholic has to do more than say they won’t drink again; a drug addict has to do more than decide not to pick up the needle; someone addicted to porn has to do more than make up their mind not to look at those images; an abuser has to do more than talk the talk.  And it is not just a one-time thing, but an every day decision…sometimes, even a moment to moment decision.  This is something that takes time…it’s a long healing process, not a quick band-aid.

If this has happened over and over, it is painfully obvious to everyone BUT Rihanna that Chris hasn’t changed, he’s just managed to once again charm his way back into her good graces.  He needs to change, and he is the only one who can make himself change.  We’re talking therapy, counseling, whatever it takes, for a long time…perhaps years.  A lifetime of learned abusive behavior isn’t going to suddenly turn into love and respect overnight.  She needs to stay far, far away from him while he works to get his life straightened out, and even then I’m not so sure I’d advise her to go back.  He also definitely needs to be punished for what he did to her.  It might be okay, it might not, but only time will tell, and time is what they aren’t giving it.

Only in fairy tales does it take solely the love of a good woman to change the beast to a prince…in reality, the woman has to love herself enough first to decide that she’s too good to be treated like dirt.

I’m feeling particularly grouchy this morning, after a night with no sleep (I only wish, it’s more like I was chasing a critter around my house most of the night), so of course this story appeals to me:  So-called Queen Of All Media Perez Hilton, who has previously spent so much time kissing up to Lily Allen that it’s practically nauseating, apparently stopped receiving her checks or something a while back, because the two of them are engaging in a verbal sissy-fight slap-fest as only those who live by the media can. 

First, it seems that even Lily recognizes that dancing isn’t her strong suit, and perhaps she shouldn’t drink and grind:

She also gave up alcohol for a while, but was pictured sipping white wine during a concert in the Bahamas on Friday.

‘I react bad to alcohol, but I never know when to stop,’ she said.

‘I keep drinking, because it helps me. I find it difficult to communicate with strangers.’

Dressed in a revealing outfit and puffing on cigarettes, Miss Allen did not seem shy as she danced on stage with female strippers.

‘Worst gig ever,’ she wrote on her Twitter page afterwards.

‘I’ve just been shown photographic evidence of myself podium dancing last night,’ she added later. ‘God I’m a d**k.’

Lily posted that on Twitter three days ago (there’s no timestamp), and Perez posted photos on his site two days ago, February 18 at 11:00 AM.

On the one hand, it’s kind of surreal to see Perez ragging on Lily, since he’s always been in her corner and was one of the first to notice her talent.  Say what you want about Perez, but he’s good at spotting new performers and bringing them to the unwashed masses.  OTOH, it’s kind of surreal to see Lily dopeslapping Perez, since she has been buddy-buddy with him for a while now.  No, he didn’t make her, but he did help get her name noticed.  Perez has been a jerk lately to Lily, but then Lily can give as good as she gets.  These two are made for each other.

If Lily is today, look for Katy Perry or Angelina Jolie or Paris Hilton to be next.  We can only hope.  Don’t waste time on her, Perez, go after the big prizes!

Reports are surfacing that scheduled performer Rihanna was a no-show for the Grammys tonight after being injured in a “car accident.” Problem with that story is it coincides with another report about her boyfriend Chris Brown being wanted for questioning by police after an incident involving Chris “allegedly” beating up a woman sometime last night. Here are the details from The Insider:

Sources at the Grammys tell “The Insider” that Rihanna’s face is slightly bruised and no announcement has been made as to who will be taking her place on stage. “We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight’s 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards. We’re sorry she is unable to join us this evening,” The Recording Academy’s statement reads.

Related to the Brown investigation, police say Brown and the woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles when, following an argument, the woman was allegedly injured, naming Brown as her attacker. When police arrived, they only found the woman; Brown had left. The Associated Press reported Sunday afternoon that police were still looking for the male R&B star.

Police say they received a 911 call related to the incident which occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The LAPD is investigating the incident.

Color me jaded and somewhat suspicious, but I’ll bet these two events are related. If it turns out that Chris Brown (who I USED to like) beat on our sweet little RiRi, I will personally give him a beatdown, or at least write mean and vicious things about him on this here website. Seriously, few things are more loathsome than a grown-ass man beating on a woman. Shame on him for hitting any woman. Throw the book at him, and a shoe, and perhaps a heavy purse for good measure.

Actually, if this is true, I’m sure Jay-Z will make sure Chris is “taken care of ” if you know what I mean.

Update: TMZ is reporting that Chris Brown turned himself into authorities this evening to answer questions about the incident. They are still refusing to name the female who accused Brown of assaulting her, but the TMZ report states that Chris and Rihanna were together earlier in the evening at that much-talked about Clive Davis pre-Grammy party. hmmm….the plot thickens.

Katy Perry may like to kiss girls, but apparently she likes to get drunk and grind on random dudes too. Hell, who doesn’t? Not sure if this is one of those gender-on-gender clubs, but the clubs I go to, dudes don’t dress like that guy. The video above was taken at Cherry Pop in West Hollywood, and Katy isn’t shy about her level of intoxication, because she cheerfully admits “I’m so drunk” among other revelations.

Interesting side note: Katy used to be a Christian singer. I guess she found the audiences a little less than enthusiastic of her girl-on-girl kissing and butt to schwang rubbing. What do I know, I am total prude whose lips nary a swear word crosses!

Speaking of total prudes, swear words and intoxication; way across the pond the always demure songstress Lily Allen had a few kind words about our national treasure Katy Perry during an radio interview.

Lily released the jabs during a radio interview on Capital FM saying, “I happen to know for a fact that [Katy] was an American version of me.”

“She was signed by my label in America as, ‘We need to find something controversial and kooky like Lily Allen.’ And then they found her.”

Sources say Lily is already angry with Katy for previous “fat insults.”

Lily admitted, “When I met her I was a bit frosty with her because someone asked her to describe herself. She’s like, ‘Aha, I’m like a fatter version of Amy Winehouse and a skinner version of Lily Allen!’”

“It’s like, you’re not English and you don’t write your own songs, shut up!”

Well, Katy’s statement is pretty accurate. And Lily’s statement is false.

Katy writes her own material.

We should cut Lily some slack though, she recently admitted to being sober (for the moment) and detox clearly affects some people differently. Like for me, a priest, some holy water and lots of rope are needed. In Lily’s case a muzzle might do the trick.

One final note, while Katy does “contribute” to writing her own songs, just like Lily Allen, she gets PLENTY of help. As in Dr. Luke, the same producer who helped Britney Spears with her latest comeback album, Circus. Katy may have some skills, but let’s not act like she’s John Lennon here folks. Very few artists you hear on the radio fully “write” their own songs.
