NYT bestselling author Ian Halperin will be appearing this Sunday on Fox between 10:00 – 11:00 to discuss his new Britney Spears biography we reported on last week. Halperin, while writing his Hollywood Undercover book, posed as a member of the paparazzi and joined the ongoing convoy of photographers who stalked and reported Britney’s every move during her most public spiral over the last 18 months.

When I spoke to Ian, I voiced my concern with the perception people seemed to have about the timing of the book and his own involvement in this “Stalking Britney Spears: Under Siege With Britney Spears” experience. We discussed the nature of the book and what his overall assertions would be about the struggling pop-star. Glosslip’s own fabulous writer “k” painstakingly chronicled the excessive media blitz surrounding Britney as she lost custody of her two sons, appeared to slip deeper and deeper into a mental quagmire and was surrounding herself with the most unsavory of characters.

Halperin, who specializes in undercover exposes assured me that while he was privy to many of the public and private foibles of Ms. Spears, in his view, he always saw her as a sympathetic figure who was being horribly taken advantage of by those charged with her care. Fortunately, Britney’s family, led by father Jamie Spears, stepped in and have taken control of Britney’s life, helping steer her back on track. Here’s the exclusive scoop from Halperin about his Geraldo appearance:

I’ll be appearing on Geraldo Sunday night (June 22) on Fox, between 10-11pm. Despite some negativity I wanna make clear how my book is a sympathetic portrayal of Britney. Her handlers and leeches around her are the folks I expose. In fact, most letters I’ve received are more positive than anything else, saying it’s time a book about the whole situation came out. His Highness Ian Halperin is back undercover, this time as a paparazzo. The NY Times bestselling author promises it will be his most compelling book yet. And Glosslip will be there with all the exclusive info.

I would like to reiterate something, in all my dealings with Halperin, he always been an honest and big-hearted guy. He understands the seedy nature of the entertainment industry and in his own way, is trying to exact change in how people operate. Does he have a flair for the sensational? Yes, but that’s both his charm and his curse. People see this sensationalism as a deception, when it’s merely a tool.

Britney’s emotional and mental breakdown was covered from the outside, with few really knowing what was going on from the inside. Though it’s been a while since we’ve heard the names Sam Lufti and Adnan Ghalib, I for one, am interested to know just how involved they were in her destruction. Perhaps Halperin’s book can shed some light on this mystery.

Yesterday was quite an adventure. Glosslip received several emails about a piece in the New York Post’s Page Six which revealed a new project by New York Times bestselling author Ian
Halperin.

Meanwhile, Spears is the subject of a tome by investigative reporter Ian Halperin, the author of “Hollywood Undercover: Revealing the Sordid Secrets of Tinseltown” and “Bad and Beautiful: Inside the Dazzling and Deadly World of Supermodels.”

Halperin, who plans to offer “Stalking Britney: Under Siege with Britney Spears” to publishers next week, reveals “details of at least two suicide attempts by the troubled star,” as well as allegations by a drug dealer about her substance abuse.

Glosslip, who has maintained close ties to Ian “His Highness Hollywood” Halperin since our radio interview in January and then again after his ill-fated movie screening in New York (due to Scientology-suspected sabotage), was contacted by major media outlets to help track Halperin. Halperin, who’s been out of the country, also stated he’s been contacted by virtually every tabloid magazine including Us Weekly, Entertainment Tonight and In Style for information, but is keeping the details of the book guarded.

But as one of the only people with exclusive access to Halperin, we were able to speak with him today about the new project, which is tentatively titled “Britney Spears Stalked” and Ian did reveal to Glosslip the general overview of the book.

“It will be a sympathetic portrayal of the rise and fall of Britney Spears. What will make this project unique, is it’s an undercover expose where I posed and stalked her as a member of the paparazzi.”

Halperin told us he conceived and executed the idea while he was working in Los Angeles on his Hollywood Undercover book, wherein he posed as a gay actor seeking to make it in the movie industry. During his adventures for that book, he was able to infiltrate the cultish world of Scientology, the porn industry and the seedy underbelly of Hollywood.

Apparently Halperin’s a master multi-tasker, as he was also able to find time to stalk Britney Spears. Glosslip pressed him for more details about the recovering pop sensation, but Halperin remained mostly tight-lipped, but he did tell us, that while Britney herself is a nice enough person, she was surrounded by users and abusers who were instrumental in her very public downward spiral, which included, according to Ian, a serious substance abuse problem.

Almost a year after taking a break from his Broadway hit musical 27 Heaven, bestselling multi media artist His Highness Ian Halperin has confirmed in an exclusive interview with Glosslip that he intends to take Broadway by storm this Fall, producing and directing two plays in the same night by a writer he says will make a ton of noise this year.

He’d only give her name to us as J.K., saying he’s been collaborating with her for months and described her as being the “new Jackie Collins” of Broadway. The only other details Halperin divulged was that legendary Broadway composer/guitarist Laurent Medelgi (Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Rent) has agreed to write the score. He will also perform in the show.

Halperin said the concept of having two short plays in the same night, by the same writer will change the way theatergoers see plays from now on.

“People are tired of sitting through a three hour play. The idea of two shorts, similar subject matter by the same writer, with the same cast in both will be a first. People will beat down doors to see this.”

After pressing Halperin he agreed to reveal the names of the plays – “Subconsciously Single” and “An Affairytale”. Sounds like his writer J.K.’s timing is perfect for New York in light of all the Spitzer and governor cheating scandals earlier this year.

The Globe Magazine is featuring a cover story by none other than NYT best-selling author and filmmaker “His Highness Ian Halperin,” about actress Nicole Kidman, her two teenage children Isabella and Connor, whom she adopted while married to actor Tom Cruise.

Perhaps this is why Halperin became mum on the subject of Nicole during my visit to NY to see his film premiere, “His Highness Hollywood.”

Andrew Morton, Ian and I were discussing their two books, comparing similarities on the subject of Scientology, when we brought up Nicole Kidman, Ian suddenly excused himself and disappeared. Apparently he was holding out on us. I clearly need to work on my super-sleuth skillz.

In any case, the Globe’s article reveals Ian met Nicole while working undercover and the two became close enough for her to confide in him her concerns about her ex’s involvement in Scientology and most especially, the decision for their two children to be raised as Scientologists, rather than as Catholics, which both Nicole and Tom were before joining Scientology.

Here’s some details from the Globe story:

*She would have left Cruise prior to their 2001 split, but was afraid of what the Church might reveal during “intimate auditing sessions.”
*Cruise demands all his significant others devote themselves completely to Scientology
*She wants Isabella and Connor to explore other faiths.

Ian was quoted as saying this about Tom and Nicole’s differing thoughts about the kids and Scientology:

“Nicole wants her kids freed from Scientology. She definitely wants them out of the church. She had a lot of problems about bringing them up as Scientologists, but Tom insisted on it. That was a big issue in their split.”

Ian also suggests Nicole, who is expecting a child with her husband country star Keith Urban, is planning to move to Los Angeles to be closer to her two older children and mainly as an effort to help extract them from the secretive, insular church.

“She was tired of Tinseltown and wanted to raise the kids in a farm-like setting, but Cruise was attached to Scientology and to L.A.” Ian said Nicole and Keith’s current plans to relocate to LA are part of an overall effort to “be closer to her kids.”

According to Ian, Nicole also expressed concern for Tom’s increased visibility and power within the Church of Scientology, where essentially officials in the Church have stated Tom is just a regular parishioner with no more control or importance than any other member. Andrew Morton’s book claims differently, and asserted Tom was in fact, the Number 2 guy behind CoS president David Miscavige.

“Nicole is concerned with how powerful Tom has become in the church. This guy has no religious background, or accreditation to lead a religious institution, but they rely a lot on what he says. He’s the de facto head of the church – that’s what Nicole said. The Church’s primary goal is to make as much money as possible and take over the world.”

Nicole’s fight for Isabella and Connor won’t be easy, Scientology does not take kindly to outsiders interfering in the family affairs of members of the Church, especially someone as important as Tom Cruise. If Nicole pushes too hard, she may find herself declared a Suppressive Person, or SP, in which case both Isabella and Connor will be forced, as Scientologists, to serve her with a disconnection letter and Nicole may find herself completely cut off from her two children.

His Highness Ian Halperin has a knack for meeting the A-List crowd. Today, while attempting to get out of town, Halperin stopped into a shoe shop in Manhattan and ran into Madonna’s stylist who was having some final alterations made on her outfit for a special appearance at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC tonight.

According to Halperin, the stylist was having work done to a pair of tall, white Everlast boots with flat heels, which looked like boxing shoes. Sounds zexy!!!

The stylist stated Madonna was doing a 6 song set Roseland for free. They also stated Madonna’s been working 15-hour days, focused non-stop on promoting her new album Hard Candy, and doesn’t miss a beat. The only think Madonna had been missing is her hubby Guy Ritchie, who hasn’t been seen with the Material Girl in weeks.

His Highness said this about the the hardest working woman in showbusiness:

“One thing I guarantee is Madonna’s Hard Candy is going to turn into hard cash. What amazes me is she’s working as hard as on this album, as if it were the first record she’s ever made. That’s real dedication.”

From Halperin’s front, he was featured on the syndicated Bulldog radio show yesterday morning, and will be doing an appearance on the Jay Thomas show on Sirius’ Howard 101 channel this Friday. Jay’s show is the featured program on Friday when the Howard Stern show broadcast taped best-ofs. Be sure to tune in and congrats to His Highness.

I wonder though, when is Ian going to reappear on Howard’s show? Surely that would make some compelling radio!

The weirdness continues, and this time it involves a hot women, darkened SUV’s and suspicious persons in mid-town Manhattan.

I got a rather panicked call from Ian Halperin yesterday. Ian, as you may remember, is the NYTimes best-selling author and filmmaker who did a documentary for his newly released book, Hollywood Undercover. Glosslip was invited to the film premiere of His “Highness Hollywood”, which chronicled the chapters in the book. A portion of the movie focused on Halperin’s undercover persona “His Highness” going into the Church of Scientology under the guise of checking it out for his “wealthy royal Israeli uncle.” What Ian uncovered was racism, homophobia and a dangerous, secretive organization designed to make large sums of money from its followers.

Since the release of the book and now the film, Ian has been the target of harassment, including: a barrage of phone calls and hang ups, threatening messages to “keep his f*cking mouth shut” or something bad will happen, was almost hit by a car, his film premiere was sabotaged (which I witnessed) and now, he’s got another strange incident to report:

“I received another ten hang-ups in the last two days, and while I was out on Saturday evening, well past midnight, I was approached by a beautiful, but mysterious woman who tried to pick me up. I was waiting for my friend who was in the drugstore at the time, when a huge Cadillac Suv pulled up along side me. She said, “Hey, you want to come hang out with me?” I told her I was waiting for my friend and heading home, but she persisted. “Awww, come on, lets go get a drink and have some fun.” At this point I peaked into the darkened windows of the SUV and saw a man sitting back in the shadows, hiding his face. I slipped back and the young woman said, “Hey aren’t you that undercover writer? I’ve seen you before, you make films right.” This set off major red flags as I am NEVER recognized on the streets, especially since I usually am “undercover.” I moved away from the car and by then my friend came out of the store. When I turned back around the SUV sped off.”

Ian asked Glosslip to help him make a public appeal to legendary mega-selling author Jackie Collins for protection. Collins, voted Halperin’s best-selling undercover book on the world of modeling, Bad and Beautiful, book of the year in 2002. Despite having hired a security guard, Ian feels the only way he can keep himself protected is to reach out through the media.

“I have to start reaching out to my most powerful contacts in the business for protection. And the most powerful contact I have is Jackie Collins. So Jackie, if you’re reading this, please contact me, I need your help. I can be reached through my coordinates or Glosslip.”

Halperin made a point of stressing to me he doesn’t know WHO is harassing him at this point, simply because, Hollywood Undercover, has stirred controversy in both the Church of Scientology and Hollywood executive circles. He managed to raise the ire of all sorts of people with his revealing inside look at these two sometimes sinister groups.

“Jackie, again I am not sure who exactly is harassing me, it could be the Church of Scientology, or Hollywood higher-ups who are pissed off at the contents of the book, but whoever is behind it, I am asking you to step in and help.”

While paranoia runs deep when dealing with these elements, I expressed healthy skepticism and asked Ian why he’d be worried about some hot chick wanting to hang out with him. He acknowledge that it wasn’t just the woman, but a string of coincidences which set him off.

“The prospect of recognizing an undercover author in mid-town Manhattan is equivalent to finding a real set of breasts on Robertson Blvd.”

As I’ve hinted at lately, the Church of Scientology has become very agitated (enturbulated in Scio-speak) and I have noticed a dramatic change in their strategy and on-line efforts. They are not to be underestimated. That said, we don’t know WHO is harassing Ian Halperin, but hopefully reaching out to an industry heavy-weight like Jackie Collins will help.

Page Six is reporting Nicole Kidman’s wants her two children, Isabella and Connor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise, out of the Church of Scientology based on reports from undercover writer Ian Halperin:

JASON Beghe isn’t the only former Scientologist who wants nothing to do with the church. Nicole Kidman , a Catholic, has limited contact with her adopted kids by Tom Cruise, Isabella and Connor, who are deeply entrenched in Scientology. At the New York premiere of Ian Halperin’s film, “His Highness Hollywood,” a Scientology insider told Halperin that Kidman “wants her kids out of the church.” Halperin beat up on the faith in his book, “Hollywood Undercover,” and said he wasn’t surprised when, during the premiere, “the projector had been sabotaged.”

As Glosslip reported the day after the event Halperin’s film premiere was besieged with technical difficulties which resulted in 2 hours of lost time and the final film being scrapped and instead, showing an unready version to the impatient crowd.

Not surprisingly, Ian and the crew at the National Arts Club confirmed sabotage was the root cause of the malfunctions and there’s been open speculation the Church of Scientology may know something about it. Ian told Glosslip exclusively he has hired a private security firm and the harassment he’s endured since the release of the book has increased in recent days. Halperin stated he would be taking extra precautions, especially at future premieres.

For anyone who wants to downstat the Church, go buy Ian’s book. I’m reading it now, and I recommend it highly.

Sunday’s two-hour Glosslip Radio program was FANTASTIC and if you missed you can catch it here (look over to the right at the little BLOGTALKRADIO widget). We had two great guests, ex-Scientologists Michael Pattison and Chuck Beatty. More on these two gentlemen here.

During the show, NYT best-selling author, Ian Halperin, who featured interviews with Michael Pattinson for his film His Highness Hollywoodcalled in to the show and relayed his experiences at his film screening three weeks ago. As we reported exclusively on Glosslip, Ian’s film premiere was sabotaged and despite valiant efforts by his crew and the fine folks at the National Arts Club, those in attendance never saw the finished film.

While investigating the technical glitches, the NAC tech folks discovered someone had tampered with the settings on the film equipment and somehow 12 (two more were found after our previous report) viruses had been downloaded on the laptop used to play the film. Ian asked Michael his thoughts on this sabotage, and about the warnings Pattinson had issued about the Church of Scientology to Halperin the summer before when they were making the film. Pattison said:

“It could very well have been sabotage by Scientology’s covert operations divison known as the Office of Special Affairs (OSA). They could very well have done something like that. I’m not saying that they did it, but it’s something that would be typical them [CoS]…I did warn you.”

I was also informed that Halperin had received another threatening phone call yesterday and several hang ups over the last week. Halperin is considering hiring private security. Might be a good idea. I bet OSA is working overtime these days.

If you been following Glosslip for the last couple weeks you know we ventured to New York to cover the film premiere for His Highness Hollywood, a documentary filmed by Ian Halperin as a compendium for his new book, Hollywood Undercover.

When we attended the premiere at the National Arts Club in Manhattan in late March, the entire event, while tremendous fun, was plagued with technical difficulties (as result of sabotage) and we ended up only getting to see the unedited version of the film.

Glosslip has received updates on the investigation and the nature of the sabotage. We also reported Ian and his team were already planning a second screening, but this time with a security detail.

As we promised, we have the information on this second screening, but sadly can’t give the location (for obvious reasons). But we will have exclusive video and pictures to post after the event.

Ian will be a guest speaker this evening at the NY Women’s Book club where he will be discussing his NYT bestselling books (Fire and Rain: The James Taylor Story, and Celine Dion: Behind the Fairytale, as well as a number of exposés on the modeling industry. He coauthored Who Killed Kurt Cobain? with Max Wallace.) and will be screening the finished, edited version of His Highness Hollywood, albeit with several security guards present .

Also, we have good news to report, Hollywood Undercover, which sold out in its first week and was unavailable for weeks, is back in print. The second printing is now available. Books are now available to order on amazon.com.

I received the last copy at the screening and I’ve had several inquiries on where to get the book. I haven’t finished it yet, but I am half-way through and I recommend it. Very engaging, first-person account of how Ian penetrated the industry, with many sordid tales along the way with A-listers, porn stars, inside look at the Church of Scientology, and of course, sex — all told with a genuine sense of humor. “His Highness Hollywood”, Andrew Morton, and some chick

I have some additional information in the ongoing investigation of equipment tampering which took place during the March 25, “His Highness Hollywood” premiere in New York at the National Arts Club.

Ian Halperin, author of Hollywood Undercover, and filmmaker reported that the NAC detected TEN viruses loaded onto the NAC laptop used during the viewing of the film. If you will recall from my earlier report, Ian and the team at NAC did a scan just prior to the film’s screening and the laptop used came up completely clean of viruses. In the wake of the screening fiasco, the NAC launched an official investigation into the apparent sabotage which took place and were able to identify at least one of the malicious programs as a trojan.

The NAC is also having the laptop dusted for fingerprints. Hopefully they will be able to isolate the ones responsible, although with the number of people at the event, this may prove difficult. Ian also informed me that a NEW screening of the film is scheduled to take place soon (I can’t reveal the location or the date because of increased concerns about additional tampering) and that they have already assigned a team of four security personnel to guard the equipment at the next event.
