Pamela Anderson has a bone to pick with Kentucky Fried Chicken. She is a member of PETA. Although she has been criticized in the past for being a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to PETA, as far as what she has worn and eaten, I have to say that  this fight against Kentucky Fried Chicken is justified in my opinion.

Now I am not a big fan of corporate food chains to begin with. The most I ever venture into is a Crackle Barrel or Burger King if I am on the highway and the choices of meal stops are very limited. I haven’t been in a Kentucky Fried Chicken since the late 1970’s, and after watching the KFC chicken processing video, I never will.

I had the misfortune of suffering through the entire video of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s processing plant which you can view at  www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com and I was totally horrified to say the least. Workers throwing chickens against the walls, stomping on them alive, clipping their beaks off on arrival, over crowding, boiling them alive and the tale of terror goes on.

Pamela Anderson has contacted Kentucky Fried Chicken and has asked them to be more humane in their processing plants and and even asked Kentucky’s governor to remove a bust of Col. Sanders from the State Capitol Building. Pam went as far as to contact Henrik Winther, president of Rostik, KFC’s Russian partners and asked them to watch the slaughter house video.

Pam has appeared in billboard adds in her “lettuce bikini top” and TV spots asking people to boycott Kentucky Fried Chicken until they change their evil ways.

Pamela is not alone in her fight against KFC. Many celebrities as well as musicians have joined her fight. From Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Tommy Lee (natch), and Pink, to the Smashing Pumpkins and Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders. These stars are asking people to “Kick the Bucket” and sign the petition.

Kentucky Fried Cruelty Activists explain their beef with KFC:

The roughly 1 billion chickens killed each year for KFC’s buckets are crammed by the tens of thousands into excrement-filled sheds that stink of ammonia fumes. The birds’ legs and wings often break because they’re bred to be too top-heavy and because workers carelessly shove them into transport crates and shackles.

Chickens’ throats are slit and the animals are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water to remove their feathers, often while they are still conscious and able to feel pain.

KFC lets frustrated factory-farm and slaughterhouse workers handle live birds, so many of the animals end up being sadistically abused. At a KFC “Supplier of the Year” slaughterhouse in West Virginia, workers were documented tearing the heads off live birds, spitting tobacco into their eyes, spray-painting their faces, and violently stomping on them. This was discovered more than two years after KFC promised PETA that it was taking animal welfare seriously.

KFC hides behind its Animal Welfare Advisory Council, even though five members of the council have resigned in frustration. One of them, Adele Douglass, told the Chicago Tribune that KFC “never had any meetings. They never asked any advice, and then they touted to the press that they had this animal-welfare advisory committee. I felt like I was being used.”

And How KFC Can Clean Up Their Act:

PETA wants KFC to adopt the animal welfare programdeveloped by five members of its own animal welfare board. These advisors are the world’s top poultry experts; they advise the meat industry in North America and Europe and believe that KFC can—and should—adopt them. KFC has yet to do any of the following:

Adopt the “Animal Care Standards” program. This would lower the amount of ammonia in the air in factory farms, improve the living spaces and lighting in chicken sheds, prohibit the intentional starving of breeding birds, and ensure that birds are provided with mental and physical stimulation.

Switch to controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK). This would prevent live birds in slaughterhouses from being abused by workers, having their throats slit, or being scalded while they were still conscious. CAK would also improve conditions for workers and decrease contamination levels in chickens’ flesh.

Switch to mechanized chicken gathering. This would drastically reduce the number of broken bones and painful bruising that birds endure when factory-farm workers carelessly throw them into transport crates.

Breed for health rather than rapid growth, and stop feeding drugs to chickens. This would reduce the rate at which birds suffer painful, crippling diseases and injuries, such as broken legs, heart attacks, and lung failures.

Make all welfare standards transparent and verifiable. This would simply ensure that the animal welfare program is being adhered to through announced and unannounced independent audits (the results of which must be made available to the public through KFC’s Web site).
 

Seems like all reasonable requests to me. So if people have to pay a little more for their bucket of bird, then so be it. Besides, these places are only adding to the ever mounting and staggering problem of obesity in the US. Fast food chains play a huge part in the rising cost of health care due to all the health problems associated with being overweight.

Now I am not a fan of Pamela Anderson’s one iota. I can write an entire article on her that would rip her a new one as far as her and Tommy Lee’s shenanigans over the years, besides her overall phony fake parts appearance. And some will say she does all this for the publicity. Whatever. It’s still a good cause and KFC can certainly be less cruel. I know all slaughter houses are a nightmare, and I am certainly not dismissing all the other cruelties that go on in other places, but simple measures can be taken to make them less cruel. And I will admit that I am a bit of a hypocrite due to the fact that I am not a vegetarian myself, but I do try to limit my eating habits.

Many people think PETA goes way too far, but I agree with what they have asked of KFC, and I saw the horrific processing video. And since I HATE corporate fast food chains already… this campaign gets my vote. I am also in full agreement with PETA’s stance on any circus that uses elephants and big cats in their shows. Go to the Cirque baby! Animal free circuses all the way!

I digress….
So before you pull in to that next drive thru… stop and think of what you are supporting. If the chicken processing video you watched of your next lunch or dinner being prepped didn’t bother you, perhaps when you order that next KFC Chunky Chicken Pot Pie , Mmm mmm, that has 770 calories and 42 grams of fat,  and 2,160 mgs of sodium, will make you think twice.

Pamela Anderson, who has been accused more than once of being “trailer trash”, is reportedly actually living in a trailer with her supposed new boyfriend!

The former ‘Baywatch’ star is reportedly living in a mobile home with new lover Jamie Padgett, who is a surfer and electrician, in Malibu.

A source said: “Pam is staying with him in the Paradise Cove trailer park while her house is renovated.”

Three-times divorced Pamela, 41, met Jamie at the end of January and soon introduced him to her sons, Brandon, 12 and Dylan, 11.

The source added: “Pam and the kids joined Jamie and his sons – who are around Brandon and Dylan’s age – on his boat in Paradise Cove at the weekend. They spent most of the time on the beach with their kids. They are really happy together.”

Pamela is said to have fallen “head over heels” with Jamie because of his clean living ways – in stark contrast to Pamela’s ex-husbands: Motley Crue rocker Tommy Lee, who is also the father of her children, rapper Kid Rock and professional poker player and pornographer Rick Salomon.

A friend said: “She is more in love than I have ever seen her before. He’s a totally moral, nice, normal guy. She is completely head over heels.”

You know, most of us are already head over heels, if you think about it.  I think in Pam’s case, it’s more like heels over head.  ZING!

But what’s this snippet about Pammie being more in love than ever?  Let’s revisit…June of last year:

“Pamela and the kids have moved in with me,” said a beaming Tommy Lee(speaking, of course, of his ex-wife and sex-tape costar Pamela Anderson and their two sons, Brandon and Dylan). “It’s awesome, man. It’s definitely working. You can tell on the kids’ faces — they’re happy when we’re together.”

And from July 2006, about Kid Rock:

Feels like I’ve been stuck in a time warp…Not able to let go of MY family picture… it’s been sad and lonely and frustrating…I’ve raised my kids alone in hope of a miracle.

Well my miracle came and went. And came back and back because he knew that I’d wake up one day and realize that I was waiting for nothing.

Oh, and a more recent one about Rick Salomon, in October 2007:

So why a third walk down the aisle for Anderson? Says a source, “They are head over heels in love. They are really close. They have a relationship already and they have the license.”

Okay, I’m done.  I’ll let you make up your own jokes from this point, because it’s Just. That. Easy.  C’mon, give it a try!  I’ll get you started…It’s a good thing that Pam is living at the beach, because that way she can use her bolted-on set of permanent water wings!  See?  You don’t even have to stretch first.

It’s like some kind of precognition or something. Just this morning I was thinking about what it means to grow old with dignity, then for some odd reason, I thought of Pam Anderson and I figured “Hey, as long as I do the opposite of Pam, I am gold.”

Then I saw these pictures of the not-aging-well pin-up and thought how kind it was of Pam to give all women of the world a little ego boost. We can all point to Pam, regardless of how unattractive we may be individually, and say “Well, at least I look better than that.” Remember when Pam Anderson was the epitome of sexy icon? Now she’s like a caricature of all things gross and icky.

It’s not that she’s fat, she’s just really out of shape and wearing clothes far too small for her sagging frame. It’s not that she’s old, it’s that she refuses to accept her age and continues to cake on makeup like some kind of demented circus clown, without realizing it merely accentuates her prematurely lined and wrinkled face. Too much hard living will do that. Take note Lindsay Lohan, this is your future if you don’t get your shizzle together.

Pam, you have no shame, you never had class, you attention whoreish ways have lost their luster, and your empty shell of a soul continues to hop from one loser guy to another leaving a path of destruction in your wake. You clearly refuse to ever look at yourself in the mirror, both literally and figuratively. You are like an accelerated Paris Hilton. And that is NOT a compliment. Used up and without a clue. You are only 41 years old, yet you look twice that age.

I realize it’s none of my business how your conduct your deteriorating life, but have some damn dignity. Your children are still young enough to need good role models, but instead they have you and Tommy Lee. We don’t typically like to be so cruel here at Glosslip, but honestly, your whole shtick is way beyond it’s expiration date. This is public service we are performing.

Now, go home, get some rest, bathe, throw out whatever controlled substances you use to drown the pain and above all, scrub your face. In other words, act your damn age.

And, of course, when one thinks of “elegance” and “sophistication” one automatically thinks of Pamela Anderson…because she’s the very living embodiment of the words.  I’ve never seen anyone who is the absolute epitome of elegance and sophistication like she is.

Case in point:  At Art Basel Miami Beach, an important art exhibition, she arrived in style, absolutely oozing coolness, grace, class, and yes…elegance and sophistication.  I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anyone who is just so effortlessly glamorous.  There’s an inner radiance to her that shines through in, dare I say it, such an sophisticated manner.

It’s a modern day classic love story…proof positive that true love conquers all, or something like that.  Yes, those two lovely lovebirds, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, are going to give their relationship yet another go:

• Tommy Lee and Pam’s ex Kid Rock came to blows, presumably over Pam, at the infamous VMA’s where Britney had her famous on-stage breakdown

Okay, that’s enough.  I’m tired and there’s just too much information to sort through that I don’t care about, since I could care less about what two diseased, skanky, trashy has-beens do in their private lives (well, I mean other than in a point-at-the-trainwreck sort of way).  If these two can make it work, more power to them.  They’re probably made for each other, so as long as they keep their shared germs between the two of them I wish them every happiness.

I do wonder, though, if vegetarian Pam will again serve pigs in a blanket and tuna tacos at the possible wedding reception?  Or perhaps wear a leather corset on her wedding night?  Or maybe she and Tommy can once again visit the circus?

I’m starting a pool on how long it will take for Pam to announce that she’s had a “miscarriage” after she and Tommy have a fight and/or and/or he doesn’t give her enough attention and/or she hasn’t had any press for a while.  I’m going to say February…maybe March, if the money holds out.

You gotta hand it to Pamela Anderson…she loves coming up with new ways to benefit her favorite charity, PETA.  Her latest endeavor involves selling her expensive and luxurious Dodge Viper, outfitted with a 400 HP 8.0L V-10 engine, convertible top, pinstripes, luxurious leather interior…wait, what?

You now have the chance to own Pamela’s black and white Dodge Viper, which is equipped with a 450-horsepower 8.0L V-10 engine, 6-speed manual transmission and multi-point fuel injection system capable of 0 to 60 in 4 seconds with a top speed of over 190 MPH. Well, now.  Isn’t that nice.  Pamela can ride around on the hide of dead cows, while at the same time espousing PETA as her “ethical advisers”.  And lest you think the toy was just an expensive knickknack given to Pam and never used, feast your eyes on this:

The 40-year-old actress recently held a private estate sale to benefit the animal organization, and she’s planning to personally oversee the sale of her 2000 Viper, which she customized herself with white racing stripes. The car plays a prominent role in Anderson’s forthcoming E! series, “Pam: Girl on the Loose,” but she admitted it was dangerous for her to own such a high-performance vehicle.

“I’m a terrible driver,” she said. “It’s just not a good idea for me to have a Viper.”

Yet another E! reality show.  At least she can be with such exalated company as Denise Richards and Dina Lohan.

We certainly don’t want Pammy to do anything that might hurt an animal, like wearing a leather corset or serve tuna or wear Uggs or inject and ornament herself with (possibly) animal-tested products.  Because that might be, you know, mean and stuff.

Did you catch that she’s donating “a portion” of the proceeds to PETA?  Wonder just how big that portion is?  And should PETA accept any portion of the sale, since she’s profiting them by selling the hide of dead animals?

Yes, it’s spring, and that’s the time when people’s fancies turn to cleaning out the house of all the junk that has accumulated over the past umpteen years.  it seems that stars aren’t immune to this, because over the weekend permatanned Pamela Anderson held a garage sale where you could pick up some, um, unmentionables (and I really do mean unmentionable):

Pamela Anderson has been selling off just about everything from one of her two homes in Los Angeles. We’re talking light bulbs, a hot pink butt blaster exercise machine, bedroom furniture, children’s toys — even used lingerie!

The garage sale took place over the weekend at Pam’s rented Malibu home with all proceeds going to the animal charity PETA. 

Eager fans wanting to grab a piece of Pam’s past waited hours in line for the sale to begin and were shuttled in vans to her house after meeting in a public parking lot deep in Malibu. Most buyers were avid estate shoppers or fans of the former Baywatch babe who just wanted a glimpse of her house. One buyer said, “I just want to see how rich people live.” [...]

And like every good celebrity, Pam was milking the pr stunt for all it was worth. The entire thing was being filmed for her reality show on E! to premiere this summer.

Is there no d-lister that E! won’t put on a reality show?  First Denise Richards (who was Pammie’s co-star in some forgettable movie released some time that I forgot about), and now this.

Expect to see many of Pam’s former belongings on eBay.

It is interesting to see that she’s trying to raise money for PETA, seeing as how she uses makeup, hair dye, collagen injections, and breast implants, some or all of which were possibly tested on animals at some point.  Because she’s never do anything that would hurt animals.  Like serving pigs in a blanket at her wedding reception (along with tuna and lobster).  Or wearing a leather corset in Barb Wire.  Or act in a movie with an animal in it (because, you know, it’s just wrong), especially not one with a bear chained up in an ice cream truck.  Or go to the circus.  Or wear Uggs.  Or possibly fix a “problem”.  Twice.  (that we know of)

Oh, those crazy celebrities.  They just can’t remember what they said or did and they have such a hard time keeping their stories straight.  But, by gosh, they are celebrities, so they should be totally exempt from having to stick to their stories, right?

Case in point:  Pamela Anderson, who has long been a champion for the animal rights group PETA (I won’t do the tasty animals joke, been done to death, no pun intended).  She recently refused to act in a scene in her new movie, Superhero Movie, because there was a dog in it (PETA doesn’t believe animals should be in movies, homo sapiens excluded of course):

The animal rights campaigner was upset when she discovered she would be starring alongside the canine in Superhero Movie, because the scene goes against Peta’s guidelines for using real animals in movies.

A movie insider said: “Pamela left the set and went for a walk. She needed a time out. She was that upset.”

In the scene, Pamela’s Invisible Girl character was required to call for her Invisible Dog, who only becomes visible as it is picked up by the busty blonde.

So what was she doing munching on a hot dog at her son’s ball game?

She is clearly eating a hot dog at her son’s ball game. Since Pam makes a big deal out of being a vegetarian, it reflects badly on her commitment. Recently Pam refused to ACT in a scene with a dog because PETA doesn’t believe live animals should be in movies. (Apparently they prefer humans to dress up as animals.) Needless to say, the director of her “Superhero Movie” was not thrilled. And Pam has been critical of other actors like Jason Alexander, who endorses KFC. So this hot dog IS a very big deal. PETA tried to defend Pam by claiming it was a tofu dog – but since when do they sell THOSE at kid’s ball games?

I don’t know.  The last time I went to one of my kids’ sporting events, they had all sorts of healthy vegetarian food there.  Tofu dogs in whole wheat buns, soyburgers on pita bread, organically produced nacho cheese made with soy milk, nachos made with organic corn, popcorn grown in a biosphere and picked by hand.  We’re progressive here in the flyover states.  I’m telling you, the possibilities were endless.  And so tasty, too!

I think we need to give Pammie a little breathing room, here.  After all, this is the woman who didn’t realize that Uggs were actually made of sheepskin.  Maybe she didn’t realize that hot dogs are meat.  But then, if you’ve ever seen the movie The Great Outdoors with the late, great John Candy, you know what hot dogs are made out of.

I’m just sayin’.

Sorry there’s been a bit of lag in celeb reporting lately…I took Good Friday off and then, over the weekend, the flu hit.  I managed to avoid it for almost the whole flu season, but it finally found me.  I’m still a bit shaky and wobbly and icky and bedheaded and feverish, but I’ll try to get some new stuff up for your reading and voyeuristic pleasure.  Keep watching, it’ll be between periods of laying in bed and moaning. </shameless plea for sympathy>

So speaking of beds, moaning, and nasty viruses that turn your body into a disease-riddled shell of its former self…the annulment of Pam Anderson and Rick Salomon’s marriage came through:

The marriage was annulled on grounds of fraud. Initially, when Pam filed legal papers back in December, she was asking for a straight divorce. But on February 22, documents were filed asking for an annulment, citing fraud.

Sources tell TMZ both Rick and Pam privately stipulated to fraud — that Pam promised Rick they would have children together. As we reported, Pam was pregnant at the time the couple separated. Shortly after the separation, we learned Pam was no longer pregnant. Subsequently both Rick and Pam filed annulment papers.

Oh yeah, those famous disappearing babies of Pam’s.  As I recall, she tried this with Kid Rock, too…calling him when she was in Canada filming Blonde and Blonder with Denise Richards (boycott!) saying she was having a miscarriage, and when he skipped his basketball game (floor seats for the Lakers, mind you) and rushed to be at her side, she was partying without a care in the world.

And I love the way they say she was “no longer pregnant”.  So, was she never pregnant to start with, or was she pregnant and made a little visit to a clinic?  I’m voting for the former, although the latter wouldn’t surprise me.  Hey, Pam, you can count to fourteen, right?  And Rick…they’re called condoms, use ‘em.

You gotta love Hollywood.  An annulment.  It’s like it never happened…except for those of us in the blogosphere.  We do not forget.  Expect us.

We here at GlossLip are not immune to the plethora of lovey-dovey sentiments that rain down on Valentine’s Day (or, as it is more commonly known, The Day Card, Chocolate, And Flower Companies Recoup All Their Losses For The Year Day).  So, we decided to see just which Conversation Hearts our favorite celebs might be receiving this V-Day.

And yes, these are actual sayings off actual Conversation Hearts that I purchased at an actual store and am actually munching on now.  I have sat here and laboriously picked through them, searching for just the right ones, drawing from a bowl purchased specifically for this auspicious occasion.  Oh, the sacrifices I make for my art.
