Celebrity Conversation Hearts

neccohearts.jpgneccohearts.jpg

We here at GlossLip are not immune to the plethora of lovey-dovey sentiments that rain down on Valentine’s Day (or, as it is more commonly known, The Day Card, Chocolate, And Flower Companies Recoup All Their Losses For The Year Day).  So, we decided to see just which Conversation Hearts our favorite celebs might be receiving this V-Day.

And yes, these are actual sayings off actual Conversation Hearts that I purchased at an actual store and am actually munching on now.  I have sat here and laboriously picked through them, searching for just the right ones, drawing from a bowl purchased specifically for this auspicious occasion.  Oh, the sacrifices I make for my art.

But wait, there’s more…

Reese Witherspoon Had Better Make Appointments Now For Her Kids

reese2.jpg

Because you know they are going to need therapy after this little tidbit got out:

On being made fun of:
“Those are sort of formative experiences. I wouldn’t want my children to miss out on any of that teasing and bullying. Don’t you think it kind of makes you who you are — when you don’t make the soccer team?”

On kids today being overpraised:
“That’s the thing that drives me crazy about today: Everybody wins the award, everybody’s the MVP? No! They’re not, OK? I distinctly recall the two weeks of crying because I didn’t make the volleyball team. But it made me interesting, you know?”

No, Reese, it made you weird.

Are all parents in Hollywood crazy?  I actually kind of liked Reese until I read that.  I understand the point of not wanting to protect your kids from everything that comes down the pike, because that just produces kids who have a very warped view of life and what they feel it owes them.  As much as we as parents might want to, we can’t–nor is it healthy–to protect our children from everything.  And yes, I agree with the not every kid is an MVP part.  I mean, when they’re little, it’s one thing…everybody plays, everybody wins.  But by the time they get to teenage years, they should be well versed in the fact that not everybody can win, not everybody is cut out for every sport, and somebody has to lose.

However, while most parents recognize that a certain amount of bullying is inevitable, it isn’t something that is desirable.  We don’t want our kids to be bullied, and will even go so far as to stop those actions in some way, whether it be dealing with the other person in some way or teaching our kids ways of coping (and yeah, in my case that meant my dad teaching me how to defend myself).  And this is like comparing apples to puppies, because not making the soccer team is a far cry from bullying behavior…unless, of course, the bully is coaching the soccer team.  Yeah, run into a few of those.

What possesses people to say these things in public?  Um…HELLO?  Those kids are certainly going to get bullied now, because after all, it’s what their Mommy said she wanted.  And what’s she going to say when her kids get home and tell her about an incident?  “Well, honey, you’ll thank me for it later.  It builds character!”

Congratulations.  If your goal was to make sure your kids have a normal childhood, welcome to Fail.

Reese And Jakey, Sittin’ In A Tree…

jakereese4.jpg

Okay, so they’re not K-I-S-S-I-N-G, but they are holding hands and looking aw-aw-adorable.

They’ve been on a promotional tour for their new movie and I guess all the time together has paid off.  Here they are in Rome, where they’ve been seen holding hands and generally looking lovey-dovey:jakereese3.jpg

The pair met on set of the upcoming movie Rendition and have now taken their romance public - they were spotted holding hands and canoodling during a romantic trip to Rome.

Witherspoon, 31, whose divorce from former husband Ryan Phillippe was finalised this month, had previously denied a romance with the Brokeback Mountain star.

I knew these two couldn’t stay apart for long!  You could just tell by their body language and the way they acted when they were around one another.

Besides, he’s as cute as a speckled puppy under a red wagon.  What more do you want?

Jake Gyllenhaal And Reese Witherspoon: Are They Or Aren’t They?

jakereese.jpg

Rumored on-again/off-again paramours Jake Gyllenhall and Reese Witherspoon came within inches of each other at last night’s premiere of their movie, Rendition, but didn’t speak and only got together for one awkward photo op with the film’s director between them.  Says Us:

“At the after party they were both doing their own thing,” an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com. “They had friends with them and just hung out with them.” […]

“You know how actors are who are in projects together — they always go up to each other and say, ‘It’s so good to see you!’ For actors to not talk to each other, they have to either hate each other — which they don’t — or they’re hiding something.”

jakereese2.jpgPersonally, I think they’re adorable together.  And now that Reese’s divorce from Ryan Phillippe is done, she may have decided that she’s ready to try it again.  The two have been an on-again, off-again item for a good part of the summer, with intimate dinners and romantic rendezvous at posh motels, but recently decided to take a bit of a breather.  Since neither are of the PDA type, like so many in Hollyweird, it’s hard to tell whether they are truly busted up or keeping things on the down-low.  (The photo to the left is from the TIFF premiere of Rendition in Toronto, although it does look like they are wearing the same clothes.)

Reese is one of the most attractive women working in film today, with classic clean looks and a beautiful smile, while Jake is one of the few young men in Hollywood I can stand to look at.  I like him minus the beard much better (certain men can do facial hair, Jake isn’t one of them), but he’s fine to look at anyway.  Those eyes!

I hope they can work it out.  And I hope this isn’t a rebound romance for Reese.  All in all, I think they are just what Hollywood needs….a fairly normal couple.  The above photo is as close as they got all night….I think I can feel the tension from here!  What do you think?
