Mark Bunker, whose beard is very wise indeed, posted a new video about his reinstatement and the process which went into that reinstatement. Mark also gave a nice shout out to Victore Flamel, and in the process shows he does NOT read Harry Potter (but I do :).
Victore has been very helpful to me as well, and we are hoping soon that this VIP will be gracing these pages with their writing skills. In the meantime — great job Anonymous and those who’ve been working behind the scenes.
What you are doing is working, and rather quickly. Rumor has is it Kendra Wiseman’s of ExScientologyKids.com parents were present for her wedding recently, and man, that’s huge. Disconnection is one of the most destructive policies perpetuated by the Church of Scientology, and for Kendra’s father (an Exec at CCHR) and mother to be present is a tremendous sign. For pics and Kendra’s story, please visit here.
UPDATE: A very fitting tribute celebrating WBM’s return
The Church of Scientology must be feeling really enturbulated lately. Each time they think they have a “win” as it were, the righteous hands of fate laugh and fart in their general direction.
Back about six weeks ago, what could only have been someone with close ties to the Church of Scientology tipped off YouTube to the fact that Mark Bunker, of Xenutv.com (also affectionately known as “Wise Beard Man” or “WBM” for short) had a second account on the video channel. This was significant as YT’s rules state if your first account is closed for any reason (even temporarily) you are prohibited from opening another. Mark’s first account was closed due to a copyright violation based on a Steven Colbert clip Bunker posted on his first account.
On the eve of Mark Bunker, a long-time critic of the Church of Scientology, an organization most consider a money-making cult (including this author) was to release the full-length video of popular actor Jason Beghe’s video denouncing his former “faith”, Bunker’s second account was also closed.
The internets were abuzz and YouTube was universally panned and ridiculed for inappropriately taking sides in the fight between internet activist group Anonymous’ and Scientology. In retrospect, without *really* knowing what went on behind the scenes, YouTube (owned by Google) was likely working on an alternative which would allow them to supercede their own policy, without also setting a bad precedent.
Whatever the case was, (although we will dig for more info) both of Mark Bunker’s channels are back, and more importantly, so are his YT stats and subscriptions. You can visit Mark’s channel Xenutv here, and Xenutv1 here.
As long as good men (and women) speak out against atrocities, evil cannot persist. Welcome back Mark!
Vicky Boyce, head of Plymouth, UK Scientology Org is captured stealing anti-Scientology protests signs, and then assault the owner of signs when he protests her theft.
The police were called and they got their signs back, but clearly this Scientologist is very out-ethics. One wonders how long they can last with the volume of protests and cameras on them capturing their poor, unethical behavior?
UPDATE: Also worth noting is the man Vicky Boyce assaulted is in a mobility scooter and uses it for issues related to getting around, he is NOT however, disabled as I reported, he is in fact quite able to fight cults and scary women who steal signs. My apologies Stu, for the mischaracterization. Rock on Scooter-Cult-Slayer!
Thanks DM Longcat for the hattip and video link — and a special thanks for being our most prolific commenter and Glosslip’s biggest fan
This is amazing, and strangely enough, the most accurate portrayal of what really goes on within Scientology. There are people high up who are laughing at the those whose lives have been destroyed. Does that sound like a religion to you?
New chants against cults are catchy. Jason, in his typically candid fashion speaks to the crowd of gathered members of Anonymous and those in the public who are protesting the CoS’ many abuses against its members. Jason at one point tried to visit the NYC org to speak to their members but they wouldn’t let him in, he then invited them to come out and speak to him, but once again, they refused.
I guess having an open and fair discussion of Scientology is not something the CoS is interested in doing.
Look for a longer, more in depth report from the Tony Ortega of the Village Voice who was there reporting on the protest.
That was a find group of folks out on a Thursday evening, I guess it’s safe to say Anonymous is NOT going away. Jason has really done a great service to inspire those who are taking great strides to expose Scientology’s history of cult-like activities to the public.
As anyone who reads this site knows I am a huge fan of Andrew Morton, and his book, Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography influenced me greatly in expanding my knowledge of Scientology and its second-in-command, actor Tom Cruise.
Andrew, in the midst of promoting his Tom Cruise book was in the Netherlands and members of the group Anonymous visited him during this tour, and the above photo was taken. For more on the encounter, go to Enturbulation.org.
As an aside, I have encountered scores of people who would question Morton’s role in this fight against the Church, in the interest of trying to remain neutral, I’ve been measured in my response. Allow me to say now, that is sheer BOLLOCKS! Knowing the full extent of Andrew’s role in exposing Scientology’s abuses gives me the right to say so.
Without Andrew’s encouragement (and that of Ian Halperin) I might not have continued on exposing the CoS like I have tried to do. Glad to see Morton finally getting some appreciation!
I remember watching the sitcom “Growing Pains” as a teen and having a HUGE crush on Kirk Cameron. Don’t look at me like that, most girls my age did (including my five years older sister!). Then I found out he went all religious fundamentalist on me and that was the end of that. It’s kind of hard to feel lustful passion for a guy who frowns on unmarried lustful passion.
“I think Scientology is kooky. I think L. Ron Hubbard had some imaginative ideas, but the bottom line is that it’s false, not real, and my advice to people is don’t get mixed up in cults and false religions but seek out the true and living God and try to honour him with all your heart. You can do that by reading the Bible.”
Kirk’s story is fairly unique in the world of Hollywood. Playing cute and snarky teen Mike Seaver on the “Growing Pains” show propelled Cameron to atmospheric heights of popularity in the teen world of celebrity worship, but unlike his peers, Kirk didn’t use this to propel him to great levels of fame, but instead found religion and pursued a career inside his faith.
While this made him an outcast in Hollywood, he continued a television career, but not as a teen heartthrob, but rather an evangelical minister. Here’s more about Kirk’s ministry career from his Wiki page:
Glosslip Radio, in its continued coverage of the internet anti-Scientology movement fronted by activist group Anonymous, is proud to announce another great radio show. Tomorrow evening’s show, at a special day and time, Thursday May 29th, 9:00pm EDT, will feature Maureen Bolstad. Maureen, an 18-year veteran of the Church of Scientology’s most devout sect, the Sea Organization, will be joining us to discuss her heartbreaking story of disconnection from her family, including her twin sister, and her harrowing experience of escaping the Hemet, California SO site called Gold (Int) Base.
Maureen and I met recently at a gathering of many ex-Scientologists while I was visiting Los Angeles with my family a couple weeks ago. During this visit, I spoke with many ex-Scientologists, and they all had compelling stories to tell of their time in the cult, but Maureen’s was especially fascinating and sad. I look forward to being able to give her an opportunity to share her story with our listeners and we hope you can tune for tomorrow’s special show. Below is Maureen’s photo and bio.
I was born and spent my childhood in Santa Clara County; lived there until I was 16. I became involved with Scientology through a friend of my mother when I was 14. I was tricked into joining the Sea Organization along, with my little brother and, later, my twin sister. I was in the SO for 18 years. I spent 17 of those years out in Hemet at the Int base. I left staff in 2000. I tried to remain a public Scientologist for 5 years, but it didn’t work out. I left Scientology in 2005.
I was officially labeled a Suppressive Person by the CoS in Los Angeles in 2006. I’m currently going to college, but I’m self employed too. I do video dp work, photography projects and office admin and bookeeping. My brother and I are on good terms, but my twin sister is still involved in Scientology and she has stopped speaking to myself and most of our family.
On Thursday, May 29, popular actor and now enemy No. 1 of the Church of Scientology, will stand among the New York City Anonymous to protest the local Scientology Orgs as part of an ongoing movement to expose the abuses and criminal activity of organized Scientology.
Jason made headlines a few weeks back when a video was released with Beghe discussing the fraudulent claims of the Church, and how the organization created by pulp science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard in the 50’s, has systematically created a criminal scheme to bilk its adherents of large sums of money.
Jason, best known for silver screen roles in such films as Thelma and Louise, Monkey Shines, G.I. Jane and recurring roles on TV hits such as “Chicago Hope,” “Melrose Place,” “Picket Fences” and “American Dreams,” has taken the internet by storm as he continues to speak out against his former faith.
Here’s more from the press release about Jason’s visit to the NYC protests tomorrow:
New York City, NY - Celebrity and former Scientologist Jason Beghe will be in New York City to assist locals of New York City with ANONYMOUS in protesting the abuses and fraud of Scientology. The event will begin on/around 5pm (EST) at Bryant Park New York City near the memorial Fountain in the park. From there, the event will travel up Broadway to Times Square and to the Organization of Scientology in New York City located at: 227 West 46th Street
About Jason Beghe - Jason Beghe is a noted film and television actor having appeared in roles on Chicago Hope, Melrose Place and various movies such as G.I Jane. Beghe was a Scientologist for many years and achieved the level of Operating Thetan Five (”OT-5″) in the church alongside an auditor level of class five (”C-V”).
About the Church of Scientology of New York - The Church of Scientology was founded by Science Fiction writer and novelist Lafayette Ronald Hubbard (”L. Ron Hubbard”) and has a presence in nearly every state in the United States of America and almost every nation in the European Union. The tenants of Scientology are based solely around the writings/lectures of L. Ron Hubbard.
I had the pleasure recently of meeting Jason and his lovely family, wife Angie and sons Bix and Bear. Jason is best described as candid, honest and passionate. Just as he firmly committed himself to becoming the best Scientologist he could be for ten years, Jason is now as equally committed to saving others from the fate of fraud and false claims perpetrated by the Church against its members and the public.
Jason told me he has every intention of seeing this through and is resolute is bringing truth and openness to this secretive group many consider a sinister cult. Jason, as the most public and well-known defector of Scientology, which has an active celebrity recruiting policy, has placed himself, his family and his career in harm’s way against a organization which has blood on its hands and a reputation for silencing its critics through financial ruin or illegal measures.
Jason really is a hero for standing up to the wrongs of the Church, and while I can’t speak for Anonymous, I can speak as a critic of Scientology’s policies. So with that in mind, thank you for standing with us Jason and thanks to the entire Beghe family for your support.
Below is a clip of NYC Scientology Org leader John Carmichael mishandling an opportunity to discuss his “faith” at a recent protest in NY:
Anonymous as an entity continues to amaze and inspire me with their creativity, dedication and enthusiasm. Many thought their global protests wouldn’t make it to the summer when they first began in organizing in January. But June 14th’s global protest themed, “Sea Arrrgh” will mark the 5th of these protests and the pressure and attention they are creating to expose the crimes of the organization which now runs Scientology are drastically affecting the CoS.
Record numbers are shying away from joining or participating in Scientology’s “stress test” traps to sucker in new recruits. The Organizations are “downstat” (losing numbers), the Church is losing money from its rank and file members, and even beloved celebrities have turned away from the Church and are speaking out against its decades of abuses.
Most recently, the UK courts struck down an attempt by the corruptible local law enforcement to keep protesters from using the word “cult” to describe the Church of Scientology, after London police went after a 15-year old who was peacefully protesting.
The Church of Scientology’s days of abusing members and behaving like a criminal organization are numbered. They will soon realize that good men and women will not stand by and allow them to operate business as usual anymore. Will you join the fight?
