If I were writing this story three weeks ago about Britney not showing up at the custody hearing for her two sons it would have been full of vile canards and cruel epithets ranging from "selfish, spoiled brat" to "dumb hick trailer trash", all of which still apply, but are probably not the root cause of her apparent lack of interest in obtaining custody of her kids.

It's pretty apparent to anyone with a television, radio, internet or the ability to read, Britney is suffering from an acute mental condition, which has been speculated to be bi-polar disorder, manic depression or some form of multiple personality disorder.

Today will likely end the speculation as to whether Britney will see her kids anytime before her April custody trial with husband Kevin Federline to determine permanent living and custody arrangements for their two sons Sean Preston (2) and Jayden James (1).

It would be a latent Christmas miracle if the judge allowed any visitation rights for Britney at this stage of the game, and especially in light of her recent behavior. So I will go on record and say today's proceedings will end up giving long-term custody to Kevin Federline, sadly, the only stable parent in SPF and JJ's lives.

There's really no reason to belabor all the varying degrees in which Britney has demonstrated her deteriorating mental faculties, but just to summarize, she's held her children hostage, refused treatment for an obvious mental problem, shacking up with a member of the paparazzi who has knowingly tried to sell lurid pictures of her tabloids, cut anyone and everyone who ever cared about her out of her life and has made no effort to persuade the courts she deserves to have any contact with her kids.
