Crispy Bacon....mmmm......

Filed under, "Sometimes The Headlines Write Themselves," this story is too good to pass up.

CNN is reporting
Rep. John Boehner's (I'm guessing pronounced "boner") office received a package "leaking an oily substance" in the mail on Monday which caused suspicion to his staff and office workers in West Chester, Ohio. Boehner's office decided to alert Capitol Hill to the event and they suggested Boehner and crew contact local authorities. Here's what happened:

Multiple police agencies responded to the Republican congressman’s West Chester office and began an investigation.

After an X-ray analysis, investigators determined the package contained bacon.

Boehner voted twice last week for a $700 billion bailout of the financial industry, which passed Friday and was signed into law by President George W. Bush.

Some critics have charged that the legislation contained unnecessary giveaways, which are sometimes referred to as “pork barrel” spending.

A spokeswoman said it's ironic someone would send Boehner bacon because he has spent his career fighting pork barrel spending.

No injuries were reported, and the incident remains under investigation. A note found in the package with the bacon was not disclosed by authorities.

Now I know I shouldn't find this funny, especially in light of the fact that our country has had real terrorist threats sent to our elected officials in the past, but I can't help it. Like our forefathers during revolutionary times used unique ways of protesting unfair acts by the powers that be, such as dumping tea into the Boston Harbor, this too is an example of civil protest against what's happening in today's complicated, global society.

What a novel, yet pointed commentary on last week's oinky-laden failout plan!
