In early times, a window was an actual hole in the wall without glass, lead or other covering. The Romans were the first to use glass to cover the window, and used the window as part of the architecture to strategically add light to rooms or to provide a view to an aesthetic area such as a center courtyard.

Today, windows are a huge part of home improvement and renovation. Special glasses, uPVC frames, tilt and turn designs have turned standard windows into energy efficient, architectural design pieces. Window treatments have become a multi-billion dollar industry including drapes, blinds, tinters and motorized blinds and shades.

The All Things Tiffany blog is a great example of new windows which have images of some of the most elaborately Tiffany designed stained glass panels and windows.

I am sure a lot of people will have different ideas about the purpose and utility of such a feature.
