Last week, there was a nasty news piece that spread online about the ASUS Transformer Prime being delayed due to Wi-Fi functionality not quite meeting ASUS' standards. The buzz came about through Phandroid.com, and many readers of that site began to comment stating they had in fact also received emails from NCIX, an online retailer, stating that their order would be delayed. Here's what the email read;
"Unfortunately, we just received word that the ASUS Transformer Prime has been delayed worldwide and will most likely not be available before Christmas. ASUS feels the WiFi range does not currently meet their standards and has delayed all shipments worldwide. At the moment there is no ETA and no information on available quantities on the first batch."
After word of this delay spread, ASUS thankfully put the fire out by releasing a statement to The Verge. A spokesperson for ASUS stated the following;
"I am trying to confirm who released this statement and for what purpose right now. At this point, we still show to be on schedule to start shipments the week of 12/19. I will provide an update once I have additional information."
If there was a delay for the Transformer Prime, you would hope that other retailers offering the pre-orders would have also heard the news, and would have also notified their customers who were affected by this. To date, no other online retailers (BestBuy, Future Shop, Staples, Amazon) have made any mention there is a delay. As it stands now, this appears to be a rumor, and the ASUS Transformer Prime will still ship out next week for those who pre-ordered for the holidays. Whew!
